Idk if RV would be the best to describe patchouli. When I think about patchouli, I get:
I mean, is RV a good example of a mainly patchouli scent?
You mean the for men? Not to my nose- to me it is a clean, fresh fougere. For patch, those mentioned by oupavoc, and also things like Zino Davidoff, Aramis 900, Angel, and others.
It contains a good amount of patch but it's well blended with an equal amount of other notes. In RG Intense, the patch is more dominant.
Are you not entertained??? Is this not why you are here??
Just the right amount IMO.
Perfectly blended, that is why RG is a YSL masterpiece.
Every time I've worn it I thought the drydown had too much patchouli for my tastes. Others like that effect (the wood and patchouli combination), but I can only handle it when it is mild.

It definitely has plenty of patchouli, which gives it both darkness and warmth. I wouldn't say patchouli is the dominating note, however. The shaving cream accord is really the most salient aspect for me.
