    Question Best Fall/Winter cologne?

Hey guys, I'm new to this site and I want to start collecting colognes. I usually have 1 or 2 colognes that I alternate, but I want to change that, so what is a good fall/winter cologne that you would recommend? I want something that projects and lasts long because my skin sucks when it comes to colognes. I know that from using Cool Water. I'm 19 btw if that helps. Thanks

Burberry London, but really any fragrance you choose would work.

I always think the right answer here depends on what kind of scent appeals to you. Cool Water is often described as a "marine scent" but on me it turns out to be a loud SCREAMING metallic floral that gives me enormous headaches and is way too overbearing. It's an uninvited guest for me and my friends, but that impression comes from how it wears on my skin personally. For others, it's obviously a better experience, judging from its popularity.

I am more partial to oriental, floral, and less aggressive scents. They leave an impression that requires someone to come closer to get a stronger whiff. During this season, I like dry, more woody scents that don't bring sweetness or too much summer-floral to the party. What you might find helpful, in addition to the specific recommendations others will surely give, is to get some small samples of a variety of different scents from places like LuckyScent or one of the other online vendors, and see how they work on you. In most cases, we're talking about a $3-4 investment per sample, much less than investing in a whole bottle of something you are not sure about. Then apply and see how it goes. You can also use the reviews here to get an impression on its lasting power.

Speaking from experience, a sillage monster that everyone can't help but notice is not necessarily a good thing. A subtler scent can draw people nearer to you. An imposing scent can push them away.

Well, I'm not good with what each note smells like in fragrances. But I do know that I got a sample Calvin Klein Obsession for my birthday 3 years ago and I hated it. So, whatever is in Obession I don't like it. I'm more of a fruity, fresh, aquatic type person.

Ok, I'm sort of on a budget and want something between the $30-60 range and not $80 and above like Creed or some others.

Right now I'm wearing a lot of Rochas Man. It's like New Haarlem, but I find NH quite difficult, especially in the opening. The burnt coffee is not for me.

RM is more toned down though. Whereas NH is a dark chocolate with richness, RM is more milk chocolate with hints of vanilla, and a lot easier to wear IMO.

Given your price range you should look into Dior Homme (not intense) and Gucci Pour Homme I. The first is iris//lavender/vanilla/cocoa/leather. Gucci PH is also excellent, a ton of incense and cedar. That's what I'm using now for winter, and Chanel Sycomore. Go to Sephora and ask for samples of both and try them out. Both are under $80 for 3.4 oz

Guerlain Instant Pour Homme Extreme has been recommended but it's beyond the price range you mentioned. I find the non-intense version more appropriate for summer, it's a very bright fragrance.

I've narrowed it down to the ones that sound good.

    1) Burberry London
    2) Versace Dreamer
    3) Rochas Man
    4) JPG Le Male

I own all these. Versace Dreamer is kind of a special occasion fragrance, not really every day stuff for me. Le Male is really strong, so I dont wear it too much for School/Work, but it is a really great fragrance, and many people use it as their signature scent (girls LOVE this stuff btw).
Im not a big fan of Rochas Man- I just dont enjoy the smell of it, but you can check it out- maybe you will like it.

Burberry London, along with Narciso Rodriguez For Him is my signature scent. I wear it almost every day during the fall/winter. I think its one of the best fragrances out there now- Its definitely my favorite. Its a very comforting and warm fragrance. Some people have longevity problems with it- I do not. I get 6-8 hours every time out of it.

Overall I think Le Male, Burberry London are the best choices. However you might want to check out Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme, Burberry Brit, And Thierry Mugler A Men as these are also great and popular fragrances.

Since people think Le Male is synthetic and there are better fragrances that have vanilla in them, what are those other fragrances that's not more than $70?

Have you ever tried Le Male?? The fact that its synthetic doesn't have to make it a bad fragrance. It smells great, has great longevity and projection.

You have to try it yourself, and see if you like it. Don't let people tell you that its bad because its synthetic, or that there are better things out there- smell is subjective. Marc (robes08)- one of the most popular you tube fragrance reviewers has Le Male as his signature scent, uses it all the time despite the fact that he has a huge fragrance collection with hundreds of niche and designer bottles.

Even though I never smelled Le Male, which I will check later this week, I don't smell any guys that have it which is at school and work. So, I guess in my area it's not that popular.

I definitely will, but I hope it's ok for a classroom and or a work type setting. I don't want people to smell before I come in the room. That is totally not me. So is Le Male really that strong?

Its alright for a classroom/work setting as long as you are comfortable wearing it there. Its a very pleasant smell, so people wont get offended by it.

As for the projection; it is pretty strong, but If you do 3-4 sprays on your skin you will be ok.

Bvlgari Black and Jaipur Pour Homme are 2 vanilla scents that I like that I don't smell on other people very often, and both are in your price range. Though they're vanilla done in complete different ways. If you like Le Male, but are worried about smelling too loud, trying altering the amount and location you apply. An honest friend can be a lot of help in finding out the best combo.

"I love fragrances because they provide a sheer endless variety: there is a scent for every occasion, mood or feeling. Standing before my collection in the morning matching a perfume to my needs is one of the most enjoyable things in my day". I don't want to miss that

I tried a sample of Issey Miyake's L'eau D'Issey and I love the smell, but it gives me a headache after a while. I read that many people do like it. I hate that it makes me feel kinda sick ughh, but it smells very good. But I will continue to check the ones you guys posted. If you have any more suggestions that haven't been made that would be great too!

Ok, so I have tiny samples of Le Male and L'eau D'Issey. My sisters said they still think my old bottle of Cool Water is better. If they would rate them in order it would be 1) Cool Water 2) Issey 3) Le Male. I myself, find Cool Water still my favorite. I thought i would like Le Male better, but it's just "ok" to me. Don't get me wrong I like it but, Cool Water smells better to me personally. So what are other scents out there similar to Cool Water and/or better that is all year round? *Please don't include Creed*
