Post Lutens first launch in Feb.2013

Now it comes clearly that the first new launch of SL in 2013 will be La Fille de Berlin. It is said to be launched in Feb.2013. This perfume is inspired by opera "The rings" written by Richard Wagner. No doubt Richard Wagner is a German musician. "The rings" is about beauty / hero / greed / betray / blood, in the end there is no hero no beauty. Very curious how Uncle Serge will tell such story using perfume? Any guess, pls kindly share.

Would it be the following equation?

Sa Majesté la Rose + Vitriol d'Oeillet - Carnation = La Fille de Berlin?

Expecting great things from Serge Lutens nowadays is like expecting REM to release an album as majestic and rewarding as ‘Automatic For The People’. And we all know what happened to REM…

As someone who's heard the Ring Cycle several times, it's hard to imagine this thing being any sort of light-weight.

The clash of the Gods, legions of other unworldly types and all that.

Odd name for a frag that's supposed to reference the Ring though. As far as I know, there's no "Filles" from Berlin in it, unless they mean those silly Reinmaidens.

Technically they live on the bottom of the river.

LOL! Greasy brats in batter? As I enjoy SL, I must try this.

I can even imagine Serge's description of it:

“I was sitting at a table outside a souk in Fez during a hot afternoon, drinking my rose tea, when I saw a ravishing blond woman coming back from the spice market and she asked me some information (the time? some address? I can’t remember since I was so enlightened by her mere presence). I invited her to join me and she accepted. In her hands she carried a bag of pepper. “I bought them to my bratwurst store in Berlin” she replied with a delicious accent when asked why so much pepper. A street flourist came to sell some deep red, blooming roses and I gently offered them to her. After some hours, I invited her to my hotel, and in the next morning, when I woke up, discovered I was alone. At my side, on the bed, she left the roses and the full bag of peppers. The fragrance of the flowers and the spices, joined by her own smell that lingered on the pillow she used, was inebriant. La Fille de Berlin is my attempt to materialize this memory.”

In the blogs they are showing Louise Brooks 20's silent movie star femme Fatale in the description. Which does seem to fit the Berlin vibe better than Wagner.

Ravishing blondes walking the streets alone in Fez ? If you've been there, it sounds pretty unlikely. And what that has to do with Wagner and the Ring...

Louise Brooks, on the other hand, is another thing all together.

    Not a German of course, but.....Yowsa !

Ooh I'm excited. I thought both Une Voix Noire and Santal Majuscule were brilliant, and can't wait to test this one. I own Rose de Nuit in FB but don't care for Sa Majeste La Rose. Peppery Rose, eh? Well, I own a couple of spicy roses so it'll be interesting to see how this stacks up against those.
