So my perfect fragrance collection would be a small fraction of its current size? I agree. The one I have is more of a perfume museum than a usable collection. The trouble is that I am a dyed in the wool collector. Perfume is only the half of it, I'm afraid, but I enjoy the rediscovery of scents even if I do not wear them weekly, monthly, or even yearly.
Anyway, here goes:
1 Vol de Nuit (my current go to scent)
2 Ava-Luxe Moss
3 Love's True Bluish Light
4 Noa
5 Anais Anais
6 Molinard de Molinard
7 Chanel's Cristalle
8 L'Heure Bleue
9 Mitsouko
10 Chamade
11 La Perla
12 Chloe
13 Fracas
14 Habanita
15 Zibeline
16 Penhaligon's Bluebell
17 Narcisse Noir
18 Farnesiana
19 Miss Balmain
20 Balmain de Balmain

24 Lauren
25 Genvieve (where IS that Michael Storer, these days?)
26 Montana Parfum de Peau
27 Femme
28 Diorissimo
29 Eden
30 Bulgari
iivanita - nice list! And might I add you're very brave to include perfumes you've never even sniffed! I'll have a hard time limiting mine to thirty I already know and love, lol!
zibeline - I'm going to list the first 30 that come to mind, and I bet we end up with several in common!
These aren't in any significant order, just as they came to me ...which of course means there will be several that I neglect and will probably feel guilty about later.
Chanel Coco
Chanel Coromandel
Chanel No5
Chanel Bois des Iles
Dior Dune
Dior Addict
Guerlain L'Instant
Guerlain Iris Ganache
Guerlain Shalimar Parfum Initial

...that's 30, right?![]()
Science is not only compatible with spirituality, it is a profound source of spirituality. When we recognize our place in an immensity of light-years and in the passage of ages, when we grasp the intricacy, beauty, and subtlety of life, then that soaring feeling, that sense of elation and humility combined, is surely spiritual. ..Carl Sagan
8e Jour is a great scent and so hard to find, like my Zibeline. I tend to hoard and not use these hard to find gems, but included Z as is my idea of perfect. We seem to share a lot of houses.
thank you girls for taking time! i have not tried many from your list...
and in 1 year time my list will probably look a bit different, i still did not make to the 30
wheras your lists with more experience might stand the test of time better
so nice to see Montana entered the list...i was thinking of Lou Lou ....
Iivanita, I had the pleasure of visiting Croatia this summer while on a Danube cruise. What a lovely countryside I saw. We went to Osijek and also spent time with an agricultural entrepreneur.
oh really?interesting!! becasue thats usually not the part where many tourists go , did you go to Kopacki rit maybe?
if you ever come again i suggest one totaly different part: Plitivice....its beautiful lakes and waterfalls all in turquoise colours like this :
hehe its not the best anglebut i could not fix it.....
1 Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanilla
2 Diptyque Eau Duelle
3 Ormonde Jayne Tolu
4 Serge Lutens Chergui
5 Miller et Bertaux A Quiet Morning
6 Roger & Gallet Blue Carnation
7 Anne Klein (I)
8 Madeleine de Madeleine
9 Fresh Sake
10 Love Cosmetics Khaki
11 L'Artisan Premier Figuier
12 L'Artisan Safran Troublant
13 Parfums de Nicolai Vanille Tonka
14 Miller et Bertaux Green, Green, Green and Green
15 Ineke Hothouse Flower
16 Keiko Mecheri Bois de Santal
17 Keiko Mecheri Ume
18 MDCI Peche Cardinale
19 Tokyomilk Tainted Love
20 Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman
21 Faberge Babe
22 Lancome Cuir
23 Diptyque Tam Dao
24 Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Pomander
25 Origins Ginger Essence
26 L'Artisan Mechant Loup
for my last four, things I haven't tried yet but will probably crave:
27 & 28 CB I Hate Perfume Fir tree and North Atlantic
29 Christian Dior Granville
30 Indult Tihota
My son would say, "Treat Yo Self!"
We were limited to areas near the Danube. The pictures are beautiful.
Tough choice. Let's see, in no particular order:
1. Bandit
2. vintage Diorissimo parfum
3. vintage Schiaparelli Shocking parfum
4. vintage Joy parfum
5. Sarrasins
6. ELDO Rien
7. Muscs Koublai Khan
8. Paco Rabanne Metal
9. Paco Rabanne Calandre
10. vintage Tabu parfum
11. vintage Coty Chypre
12. vintage My Sin parfum
13. Amouage Gold Man
14. Tabu vintage
15. Chanel Eau de Cologne
Interesting you compare Sacrebleu to Fracas. I just smelled it last month, and to my nose the comparison is more a lighter powdery heliotrope like Heure Bleue, but with sassy notes - I agree with you in the direction of Fracas. But to me it is not up to either one - I vastly prefer vintage Heure Bleue, which, of course, should have been in my list. Cuir de Russie barnyard?
cacio
I can't quite imagine whittling down my wardrobe to 30, seeing as I buy FB's carefully and after giving it a lot of thought. The only scents I can do away with are Montale's Black Aoud and Aoud Red Flowers, Lutens's Tubereuse Criminelle and Ralph Lauren's Romance.
That said, there are some scents which I absolutely can't wear during certain seasons. They come an almighty cropper on my skin. For instance, wearing Fumerie Turque or Musc Ravageur on a hot 25ºC day is a recipe for disaster. Likewise, some scents are so thin that they just dissipate into nothingness during the nippier days.
hehe yes....i would not say Fracas and Sacrebleu are simmilar in notes...not at all...but that sweety exotic feminine thing i liked in fracas-tuberose- is more wearable for me in Sacrebleu, that composition is so uniquely done, that i could not compare it to any other perfume i have tried, it amazes me and i can wear it wherever i go, feeling confident...Fracas is the league on its own...its just the matter of my taste
Sarrasins should have made on my list toobecasue i was eophoric when i tested it 1st time! but vintage Joy perfume is in competition, must try that bois de violette then i will make final decision...
Bandit i found very interesting when i first smelled it, in the drydwon was so gorgeous, but i was new into fragrances and realized i could not pull it through...maybe now i could
L heure bleue is warmer and drier desert then Tauers dessert Maroccan ...i would like to include it but was trying to be more realistic , dont want to be hooked on vintage stuff where ebay is my only resource, its so not for meso far Shalimar is still my unfullfiled wish
Yes cuir de russie is like barnyard at the first sniff....stillhehe...its bitter, then too much iris
i am thinking vintage stuff was more like buttery less dry...but cant know, so for me its bit mechanical
we share Chanels Eau de cologne
its so so nice!!! my summer wish!
have not tried diorissimo vintage....but the new one is so fresh , spring , green....for that purpose i chose from PdN Le temps d un fete....my goal would be then...when i make my perfect collection to use it up full![]()
@whimsicaldiva......i agree , some scent just cant be worn on hot days and some are pale on cold days....thats the truth...would be probably on average that i would wear cologne more often during summer days and Onda perfume or Homage, or Gold for woman during cold days....i have tried the last one on a warm day,it was so suffocating
....the ones i bought during winter i like more in the winter! ...i did not buy Le temps d un fete, because tested it on a hot day....it doesnt work well then
It's quite difficult for me to walk past a list Thread . . . and this is more interesting than the usual Top 5 or 10
In the order they come to me:
01. Patou Pour Homme
02. Tiffany for Men
03. Santal Noble (MPG)
04. Balsamo della Mecca(Dominique Dubrana)

I will take E.'s list, chop it in half to have 18 and what do I get? Almost exactly what's listed in My Wardrobe with some variations/substitutes!
30 is too many.
Flathorn, so nice to see you posting again! Wheels or skies on your chopper these days?

Hi Twolf -
How nice you remember the plane - it gives you a wing wave!
It would be nice to be a more consistent presence on this forum - it's so good, the best one imo, but my internet is in and out. Besides, if I'm around too long, my wish list goes crazy - so many lemmings, so many beautiful descriptions. It's such fun, but a true passion.
To redeem this post - I have one other fragrance I would need to wear from time to time, if I could have access to it. On day 31, I'd wear vintage Caron Narcisse Noir. My mother wore this for special occasions - it was a serious fragrance with serious smolder.
Oh yeah, this is a beauty. A rare one at that, too!
I like my own current rotations: N'Aimez que Moi; Parfum Sacre; Ta'if; Youth Dew; Paris; La Rose de Rosine; Or et Noir; Samsara; Sa Majeste La Rose.
Yes, heavy on the roses and the Carons, but that's what I like and wear most.
But if I were rich I'd add these vintages: First; Mitsouko; L'Heure Bleue; Mille.
If only.
I don't know if I mentioned it before, but talking of Fracas, the vintage pure parfum is a revelation. Such subtlety, such complexity and depth. It doesn't scream pure tuberose, but speaks of tuberose as part of a blend of many white flowers. It has a subtlety that is more in keeping with the 1940s when it was conceived. Anyone who is a fan of the modern, do try to get hold of a quality vintage pure parfum. It's an experience
From what I have experienced of the reformulations/reorchestrations of the Piguets, the moderns are only a slight nod to the classics of the past. If you don't believe me just compare the modern Baghari with its vintage equivalent - yes they have orange blossom in common, but to my mind, little else.
For me:
Annick Goutal - Songes (need full bottle, stat!)
Guerlain - vintage Shalimar edc
vintage Vol de Nuit
first edition Shalimar Light
Lanvin - Arpege (vintage Eau de Lanvin)
Caron - vintage Tabac Blond extrait
Vintage Nuit de Noel
PdN - Sacrebleu
SSS - Tabac Aurea
Winter Woods
Nostalgie
Champagne de Bois
Knize - Ten
Patou - Joy
1000
Desprez - Bal A Versailles
Donna Karan - Black Cashmere
Lancome - Magie Noire
Balenciaga - Michelle
Amouage - Epic Man
And that's all I can think of right now.
O.K here goes:
Visa
Theorema (Fendi) - nothing else comes close.
Shalimar Ode a la Vanille
Cristobal (Balanciaga)
Ivoire (Balmain)
Mitsouko
Rive Gauche (YSL)
Loulou (Cacharel)
Roma (Laura Biagiotti)
Bulgari Omnia - my "go to " scent.
Mauboussin
Angel
Cuir Beluga (Guerlain)
Diorissimo (Dior) - my Mum's favourite flower.
Fleur de The Rose Bulgare
L'Infante (Divine)
l'Heure Bleu
Apres l'Ondee
Le Parfum de Therese (Frederic Malle)
Iris Poudre (Malle)
Molinard Vanille
Fleur d'Oranger (Serge Lutens)
Feminite du Bois (Shiseido) - because it made me realise perfume was an art form.
Eau Sauvage (Dior) - for the memories.
Eau Noire (Dior)
Havoc (Mary Quant) -simply for the nostalgia!
Sienne L'Hiver - because it takes me on an olfactory journey.
Jicky
