Not good IMO.
Thread: Does anyone here wear Mambo? |
Ronnie the Limo Driver from the Howard Stern show apparently bathes in it, and Howard is repulsed.
What does it smell like?
Not good IMO.
lol. Yeah, I remember hearing that too. Love the HS show.
I blind bought Mambo a few years ago, when I was just starting out with my fragrance collection.
When I first smelled it, I was off-putted. I immediately realized this is the same scent a mechanic wore at my local auto-body shop (he was in his early 20s). This is the type of scent young adults wear. I can totally see them clubbing with it on.
To top it off, it's EXTREMELY strong. It's a projection beast. That's why I totally understand where Howard is coming from on his disgust of the fragrance. I would be too. It's both very synthetic and strong, double the trouble.

I've never smelt Kouros before. I just know that Mambo is one of the few blind buys I regretted purchasing. I remember the smell as very synthetic and full of various citrusy fruits. It's just way too over the top and teeny bopper clubbing for me. Fortunately, it cost me less than 20 bucks.
I can see why Howard would think Ronnie bathes in it. A couple sprays of this could take out a whole room.
For the price, it is not bad.
I used to wear it, but gave it away. It has a TdHness to it, but it is dated and STRONG. Spicy, a little synthetic, and I will not buy again.
I wear it occasionally in summer. Hard to describe, I think of it as a bright, lively scent.
It was a winner of Best New Fragrance of the Year in the Basenotes awards many years back.
I guess the crowd is different here nowadays.
Cheers,
Renato
Haha. Yeah, I caught that episode. Was wondering what it smelled like too.
I think Lou Bega wears it. He layers it with Chanel No. 5
OMG, where's Bigsly?
Snarky is as snarky does.
Very generic and synthetic and strong.
I'm not OLD...I'm VINTAGE!
Mambo is REALLY bad. I used to have a bottle, and got rid of it for 5 bucks. It's an orange based fresh fragrance, that gets mangled by chemical smells. One of the worst chemical smelling fragrances I have ever smelled. Steer clear of this one.

I wear mambo. It's fresh, green/spicy/floral reminds me of the 80's. Released in 2001 but surely regarded as a powerhouse fragrance. It's one of my favorite casual on-the-go scent especially in warm sunny days. One issue is longevity and lacks projection like the other 80's powerhouses.

Mambo does not make me think of Kouros, and vice versa. The only thing in common to me was that I passed on both. I'll add this... Even though Kouros smells like urinal cakes to me, I find it more interesting and better executed than mambo.

From what I remember (haven't worn it probably since 2012) the lily of the valley and pine create a kind of clash or an accord that seems harsh, at least. I wouldn't call it generic, as it's more of a muddle, with too many notes, at worst. And of course you shouldn't expect a rich, "natural" quality to it. I'll have to wear it one of these days and report back.

I like it, I just bought another bottle a couple of days ago, I used to wear it years ago when it first came out but had not worn it for years. A lot of women seem to like it, so it must have some of that Curve DNA in it somewhere.
It's really quite pleasant, except for the smell (...)

Never really cared for Mambo. I wore Bora Bora and Spark about 10 years ago but ended giving both bottles away when they were 1/2 finished.
I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.
