Default What are some classic must have scents

I'm talking about the forgotten Polo's
or fragrances that were once hyped and are now forgotten

I guess I would say stuff like Egoiste. People still talk about it; however, it's not raved about as much as La Nuit De l'homme for example which is a newer fragrance.

I see the same thing happening to Le Male eventually

So, anyhow, name your favorite forgotten fragrances that ooze class

Ungaro III to me is THE "must have" classic perfume, but I would mention also its brothers I and II.
The Halston twins (1-12 and Z-14) come in a very close second.

They are excellent and incredible unexpensive. Now if money is of no concern, there are thousands, but to have them will send you to the poorhouse, but not these I just mentioned.

For those like me, who want to smell like a man, VanCleef & Arpels PH is an oldie but goodie that should be much more popular than it appears to be. Even the current reformulation is superb.

You can't talk about classics without mentioning Old Spice for men. Now there is a classic.

If you are asking about male category
    than

Acqua di Parma - original Colonia
Guerlain - Eau de Cologne Imperiale, Jicky, Habit Rouge, Vetiver
    Chanel Pour Monsieur
    Dior Eau Sauvage
Hermes Equipage, Bel Ami, Eau d'Orange Verte

I personally can't get enough men wearing Eau d'Orange Verte and (or) using Acqua di Parma shaving Colonia scented products)

Green Irish Tweed - beautiful from start to finish and extremely versatile. This and LIDGE are 2 I know, without a doubt, I will always want in my collection. Others may come and go, but I can't imagine being without these 2.

I second Givenchy Gentleman, Knize Ten and Escada Pour Homme.

Three amazing fragrances you can own without having to go vintage. Tzar is another if you can find the old, solid green bottle, and I'll also throw out Zino. Not a big favourite of mine but I respect it a lot. Two more seriously overlooked classics are Roger & Gallet Pour Homme and l'Homme. These are classy scents, powerhouses but with a sense of refinement.

Now if you want to go vintage I've got one BIG suggestion. Davidoff by Davidoff. This - to me - is the daddy of all eighties power frags. Not because it's the loudest (I wouldn't put it up there with Kouros and the like) but because it's so refined and complex, while still being utterly masculine and potent. Anyone who has ever said a bad word about Davidoff as a house needs to smell this and apologize instantly. This is as good as fragrance gets, and one of those scents that can elaborate why, in a single whiff, the world of vintage perfume attracts so much love and empties so many wallets.

with regard to Ungaro III, I would say that you need the vintage formulation. It is way different from the reformulated stuff being sold now. The vintage stuff can be pricey, but if you shop around you can pick it up for next to nothing sometimes. I will tell you though that it really has no longevity.

Many of the suggestions are wonderful but I would like to always have these in my wardrobe:

    Dior Eau Sauvage
    Vetiver de Guerlain
    Pour un Homme de Caron
    Aramis 900

I'm not much into the 80s powerhouses nowadays but there are great classics among them.

Eau Sauvage and the "Halston Twins" are must try's, if not must haves.
