Wink Jaguar Vision: The Aventus Substitute You've Been Waiting For?

Let's start with the elephant in the room, yes this does bear a striking resemblance to Aventus. From the top, in-your-face pineapple and apple blast to the woody mid and touch of vanilla. It differs from Aventus in that Jaguar Vision has an amber vanilla base to a wood and patchoulli mid. Aventus does a leathery pungent basenote punctuated by Creed's signature ambergris, Vision as I said is a light woody amber vanilla affair.

On it's own terms, this stuff is exquisitely blended and gives off a lovely pineapple, fans of pineapple in fact might want to look here as I find the pineapple here done far better than in Unforgivable or Millesime Imperiale. There's a nice woody mid and an amber and slightly vanilla base.

Longevity is average I've consistently gotten 6 hours or so out of it. For the price you can't go wrong with this one it gives you a solid sweet gourmand pineapple but manages to make it fresh and natural and completely avoid the synthetic bubblegum sugar that makes other sweet scents like 1 million, Black XS and Le Male so noxious and over the top that they become unwearable anywhere but a nightclub. Projection? Not a lot, it's moderate to slight becoming a skin scent quickly.

Versatility? That's the great part about Jaguar Vision not veering into candyland sugar territory this could be worn in a suit at an office or to the club, beach or school. It achieves something rare, being sweet without smelling juvenile and immature. It's a sophisticated gourmand, who knew that was possible?

This isn't an Aventus replacement, but it's a damn good alternative and could serve similar purposes, so if you're ready to try or are already a fan of pineapple scents, and too budget conscious to pick up Creed's take on that trend this one is more than an ample substitute.

    Happy Holidays!

The Zara Gold I have is as close as I need it to be, so I haven't tried Vision.

I've also heard that Zara Gold is as close as it's going to get to Aventus. However, in my opinion, I feel that they still cannot be compared to each other as Aventus is in a completely different league of its own.

IMO Jaguar Vision is a very solid fragrance, the only problem is the longevity. But still I find it very good.

    Baldinini Man also resembles Aventus.

It seems that some Zara Gold formulations have the smokiness (mine does) while others don't, judging from old threads on the subject. There's nothing in Aventus' drydown I can't get in an imrpoved version of from other frags I have, so I my only interest is in the smoky pineapple accord. Others may not have such options or may be perceiving things differently, of course.

I wasn't waiting for Aventus, so I don't know if this is the substitute I have been waiting for... That said, the mid and base notes you describe sound a lot more to my taste than Aventus, so maybe someday I will give this one a sniff and see if it fares better. Thanks for the description and info.

Maybe there's something one can add to Zara Gold to get the smokiness - because the pineapple top notes are very similar? The base in Aventus is very complex and difficult to imitate by layering though.

I will check out Jag Vision.

Even certain batches of Aventus don't smell like Aventus, so don't expect much from a $20 bottle of Jaguar Vision. It is nice, but if they were cars, Vision would be a Jaguar and Aventus would be an Aston Martin.
