Default End of the Year Guerlain Releases in 2012

Guerlain has on average twenty yearly releases, flankers and reissues included, repackage editions not included. Taking a look back at the year that was, 2012 was no exception:

    L'Heure de Nuit
    Myrrhe & Délires
    Idylle Duet Jasmin & Lilas
    Guerlain Homme L'Eau Boisée
    Shalimar Parfum Initial L'Eau
La Petite Robe Noire EdP (new version)
    Aqua Allegoria Lys Soleia
    Aqua Allegoria Bouquet de Mai
    Mon Précieux Nectar (reissue)
    Muguet 2012
    Encens Mythique d’Orient
    Rose Nacrée du Désert
    Songe d’un Bois d’Été
    Shanghai
    La Petite Robe Noire Parfum
La Petite Robe Noire EdT (for Scandinavia, Asia and Russia only)
Le Bolshoi Saison 2012 La Traviata
Ode à la Vanille Sur la Route de Madagascar
Rêve de Lune - L'Abeille Aux Ailes Argent
    L’Aurore
    Le Zénith
    Le Crépuscule

Just FYI for those Guerlain Heads like myself!

I've read that Zénith will be released as a standalone perfume next year. Very curious to smell it ( and the other two l'bs), but I daren't get my hopes up.

Also, l'heure de nuit can be added to your list, southernardens. Most keen to smell this one.

Of those I've sniffed, Encens Mythique was perhaps my favourite, but it's ultimately not my thing.
La Petite Robe Noire EdP was my least favourite.

Regarding Guerlain more generally, I added Liù to my wardrobe this year ( and received some of the vintage parfum from a wonderully generous BNer). Also squirreled away lots of Jicky extrait and some older l'heure bleue extrait, too.

So Southern Gardens, what's your all-time favorite Guerlain?

    Inquiring minds want to know.

That's a tough one because there are so many in their lineup, but I love the Classics and it would have to be Shalimar parfum. It's entrancing and smells so much different on a man.

Very nice. By a strange quirk of fate, I have a vintage bottle of Shalimar, bought at least 15 years ago. After reading comments from a few of its male enthusiasts here it occurred to me I could actually wear it. Wow. Who'd a thunk it?

Thanks for making the list; 20 releases, never thought it would be that many a year! Les Déserts-trio was nice, L'Heure de Nuit was a disappointment, and the rest passed me by. Four variations of L'Heure Bleu though, and three tweaked La Petite Robe, so it's not like they are pumping out lots of new-new fragrances.

Is this from Monsieur Guerlain's Facebook page? It's always nice to cite your sources I think.

Ah yes - I see that now. By the way, Le Zenith is the same as L'Heure de Nuit. They call it Le Zenith in the limited release coffret, but the separate Parisiennes version is called L'Heure de Nuit.

I think Mr. G left it off because it's officially a 2013 release, although it seems to have started shipping early in some places.

As a fellow Guerlain-head, I thank you for the list, Gardens!

I have not tried the majority of these, but of the ones I have smelled, I liked the Desert d'Orient trio, Shanghai, Myhrre & Delires, and the new Ode a la Vanille.

I am glad you mention this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A42GhVwRmYk. So many men scowl over wearing "men's" scents, as if even thinking to do so will emasculate them. Fragrances do indeed smell different on men, as the do on individual people.

    Yes, Shalimar is divine!

+1 on all of these. I was pleasantly surprised by Shalimar Initial 'l'Eau and the LPRN Extrait as well, arwen.

Le Zenith / aka L'Heure de Nuit is good - info elsewhere in another Thread.

I haven't tried many of these either, but I have been impressed with many of the ones I did try.

Ode a la Vanille was probably the standout for me. Remarkably close to vintage Shalimar in the opening and the heart. I have to give credit to Wasser for this one. I hope it's actually a test run for a reformulation of the modern Shalimar!

I like L'Heure de Nuit a lot, and will probably get a bottle sometime soon.

Parfum Initial L'Eau was great, and so were at least 2 of the Desert d'Orients, but I don't remember which 2 ...

Bouquet de Mai was a very nice, likable rose soliflor. I didn't buy it, as I couldn't imagine wearing it. Nice, though.

I need to try Shanghai and Myrrhe et Delires.
