Default I'm in love with Lanvin Avant Garde!

I know I may sound crazy, as, neither there is anything AVANT GARDE about this stuff nor it is groundbreaking in any ways but still I found it very pleasing and warm and enjoy it fully in the current cold weather. Got it as a gift from my wife and I must say that I'm really flattered. Projection is average but the lasting is awesome on my skin. I applied 4 sprays in the morning at 10 and I was able to smell it at the night at 10. For me it is worth a bottle.

Quite under-rated, IMO. I like AG a lot.

someone says AvantGarde by Lanvin is the perfect clone of the old fragrance "BlueJeans" by Versace.

I was considering blind buying this, as a Lanvin fan. Does this fragrance smell like anything else designer?

^^Not very close but shares some similarities with Eau Des Bavx.

Man, I wish I would have known and I would have hooked you up with a sample of this one too. Its my favorite fragrance for Fall/Winter! If I had to give it a comparison, its like 212 Sexy Man+Chergui by Lutens with a touch of Eau des Bavx. It doesn't smell anything like Versace Blue Jeans, but you might say its like a modern take on that style of fragrance, ie. a woody oriental that can be worn casually. The notes are smooth though synthetic and I get good sillage for 2hrs followed by a nice modest scent for another 7-8hrs. It last a long time in the dry down. Not sure why this got lukewarm reviews on here. Its much nicer than something like Pure Havane which people love to talk about...

    Summer Rotation:

    Versace Pour Homme by Versace
    Cool Water Game by Davidoff
    Tom Ford Grey Vetiver
    H.M. by Hanae Mori
    Vettiveru by Commes Des Garçons
Riverside Drive by Bond No. 9
Soon to include "Ab Spirit Silver"

If smelling good was a crime, I'd be serving a lifetime sentence....

I just picked up a bottle of this with a free Kohl's coupon I had. I haven't given it a full wearing yet, but I've sampled it several evenings at home, and it's starting to grow on me. The topnotes are a little odd, but the drydown is really nice, smooth, and soothing. The drydown to me is like a combination of honey, sweet tobacco, and some amber. And I kind of understand the comparison to Versace Blue Jeans. I haven't smelled it in a good while, but I remember it had a bit of a cola vibe. And call me crazy, but for some reason, I also get a sweet, flat, cola type vibe from Avant Garde in the drydown phase.

Anyway, as I say, the topnotes are a little messy, but I'm really enjoying the long drydown on this one. I think I'll give it some wearings and probably apply a bit earlier before I head out. I'd certainly recommend giving this one a try though (especially if you enjoy honey/beeswax type scents).

To me it is a closer version of La Nuit de L'homme Le Parfum. Nothing new.

IIRC I found it very generic with no stand out features but that's not to say it didn't smell nice, nothing more than nice though.

I got very mellow coffee, or coffee cake, the one time I tried this. Must see if my local John Lewis still has that tester bottle.

+1. I agree, not quite in the same class as Arpege pour Homme. Too bad Lanvin advertising is practically non-existent.

I quite like this one and Arpege pour Homme. Avant Garde seems more masculine to me though. I can see why people would find it unremarkable, but some of the bad reviews this attracted mystified me.

I've been wearing this for 3 weeks straight since I got it. Love this stuff and it filled the everyday casual scent that was missing in my collection.

It's a very nice scent, I just didn't get around to it much so I sold it off in the great purge of '14.

I think Avant Garde is an underrated scent. NIce bottle.

I think it was not marketed enough.

Really? I tried the newer version of Le Male once and it smelled nothing like Avant Garde.
