Default How do you assemble a bottle of Montale perfume?

I bought 'Aromatic Lime'. It comes with the atomiser and a dangling clip with the logo on it*. From images I see the clip goes underneath the atomiser but seems to act as a lock? I was wondering whether or not you could keep the clip where it is and spray or would you have to unattach it every time you wanted to use it (or keep it off the whole time)?

*Unhappy it scratched my bottle in the pouch it comes in *

    Thanks.

The clip is a lock, to stop the sprayer being depressed by accident. You remove it in order to apply the scent.

I confirm this. I like the idea of the clip.

The clip is charming. The bottle not that much, but it have a very good concept, though.

Agent Provocatuer uses simmilar clips but for much nicer bottles.

The bottle looks quit cheap, but the clip make it look a lot better.

I think I saw that Le Male also use clip as spray lock.

Aha. Thank you very much. Yes, the clip does make it look much better. Otherwise it would just be a plain black can with a little writing on it.

I love Montale and have several bottles of various fragrances by them...but ever since a friend commented that the bottles look like fire extinguishers that is all I see...ugly fire extinguishers. by the way, did you know the atomizer unscrews to give you access to the inside of the bottle? great for doing travel atomizers or decants!

You can leave it unattached if you don't want to fiddle with it every time you want a spritz. It's just needed for transport/travelling as they don't have a cap.

I reckon they look pretty cute.

That's interesting to know though as I thought they were completely sealed. I picked up my bottle for $115 for 100mL at 'The Perfume Shoppe'.

    1) Remove can from pouch.
    2) Unscrew top.
    3) Pour contents into toilet.
    4) Flush toilet.
    5) Throw empty can into garbage (unless local hazardous material laws require other disposal method.)

Ok, I just got two Montale tester bottles today, and the clip and sprayer seem to have come together as some kind of puzzle. The clip is jammed into the atomizer already, and I can't seem to get it out. The atomizer fits as-is very loosely on the bottle, so I can spray it (sort of), but it seems like there must be some way to get the clip out of the atomizer top. There are little slits in the atomizer, but they are too small for the clip, and I don't want to force/break it. There has to be some trick that I'm just not seeing....

Can I ask where you got your bottles from? There was a whole thread on this very issue somewhat recently with these being thought of possible suspect bottles. I have 190 Montales which include the most recent releases and none of them have clips through the atomizer.

Hmmm interesting. I bought them from FragranceNet. They smell legit to me (I’ve sampled them before), but I did notice that FN recently got a glut of cheap Montale testers. I got Black Aoud and Aoud Cuir d’Arabie for about $45 each. I have another Montale that I bought here on the sales board that has a different atomizer/clip setup.

Perhaps the bottles were assembled in a different manufacturing plant (Middle East or Asia?) although I had inquired about this in May of this year when I was at the flagship Montale boutique in Paris and no one there had heard of this.

That sounds possible. It does seem as if the clip/atomizer were made separately from the bottle - they came in the same box, but in a separate small plastic bag. In any case, I've tested both fragrances today and there is no mistaking the telltale Montale oud and nuclear performance. Luckily the bottles are easy to open and I have a number of 10 ml decant bottles, so I will probably just use those when I want to wear it. A bit frustrating, but overall I think I got a good deal so I'm happy!

DITTO! My Intense Cafe arrived today and the sprayer/lock was in a tiny Montale-logo'ed ziplock bag and I have NO idea how to get the clip out of the sprayer! I had no intention of decanting this - I'd really like to know what the trick is. Google has not been helpful in answering the question - ARGH!

Yep, that’s exactly how mine arrived. Sadly I don’t think there’s a fox for it; I’ve just resigned myself to the fact that it’s a pain in the ass to spray. At least the juice is authentic!

I had a quick talk (after being passed around a few times) to someone at F-net.com - I think part of my confusion was I assumed I needed to remove the pin before attempting to snap the sprayer on. She said, "No, just line up the tube with the receiver end inside the sprayer and push down slowly and it will seat AND you spray with the pin in place." So the pin is pure 100% non-functional, just for looks, and does not prevent it from being sprayed while in place.

    Pain in the ass, indeed.

I think this is the newer version of it, which seems way worse than the old clips that had to be removed in order to spray.

I don't mind the bottles or the clips on Montale fragrances, I just wish the atomizers were better.

I tested about 25 Montales in one sitting in a big London store --- my fingers were bleeding at the end of it.

Why bother with the tricksy things?

The three most recent releases by the house don't have this "newer version" of clip and have yet to see this on any fragrance bottle from an authorized Montale dealer.

Interesting, I didn't know that - thanks for the clarification! My only Montale has the clip that needs to be fully removed in order to press the atomizer.

It sounds like the clip-in-sprayer thing only applies to bottles purchased on grey market discounters like FragranceNet.
