Default Rive Gauche. The canned version isn't quite getting it.

Regarding Rive Gauche, I tried a small decant which must have been the new formulation.
It was quite nice, but I ordered the can because some people here on BN seemed to think it superior.
From what I can recall the newer sample was actually more appealing with better sillage.
The can feels 'canned.' Maybe it just doesn't age well.
    Any thoughts.....?

I have the original and personally find it quite pleasant. Haven't tried the newer one.

I have the canned version and it's long lasting with great sillage and smells great. I have not smelled the new version but a lot of reports do not put the scent in a good light especially it's longevity.

Not an expert on RG. Aldehydes can turn, though the dark aluminum can helps with this. So if it's a very old bottle, it's possible that the top is somewhat gone.

I have an old gray market can that must be 7 or 8 years old. Smells great to me.

I also own the "canned version" only and am pretty OK with that, though I'd like to try the new one too, even if merely out of curiosity.

I have a couple of cans, and have tested the new cube bottle several times. I thought the new version felt muted and weak by comparison.

Maybe you got a bad bottle. Where did you get it?

I ordered it via Amazon, it came from somewhere in CA.
It was a 'gift set' with bath gel, in a holiday-ish box.

Will keep giving it a shot.

Keep using it and see what you think after a few times. I have a couple of cans and love it. I would love to try the new version to compare but havent seen it anywhere for sale.

I just ordered a second can from Amazon because I fell big time for this stuff and I don't want to be without it I would like to try the new one in the square bottle just for comparison as well.
