    Good morning/afternoon/evening, fellow synchers.

I only have PG's to choose from (and only samples at that) -- Querelle? Papyrus de Ciane? Coze? -- Not sure which at this point, though I'll be some variation of funky green, no?

    Have a great weekend, all.

    edit: It's Papyrus de Ciane.

It was very hard to decided just what to wear ... I had so many choices! I ended up wearing the amazing Fumerie Turque by Christopher Sheldrake today. I loved FT from the very first sniff ... a friend had sent me a small sample from one of the beautiful bell bottles, as it was a Paris exclusive at the time. I lusted after it so hard and hoped it would be one of the limited time additions to the export line and when that happened, I called Barneys the very day FT was available and had them send me a bottle! I'm so happy to have it in my collection. I sort of think Christopher Sheldrake is some sort of fragrance genius ... I adore so many of his scents!

Fumerie Turque notes: tobacco, leather, styrax, patchouli, rum, white honey, beeswax, currant, Tonka bean, vanilla, jasmine petals and Turkish rose

    I've trademarked the color bleu

I have been posting links to this thread on Facebook over the last few months. Slightly confusing situation as I made a note of what was coming up and posted about English perfumery a couple of weeks back. But I'll do it again for this week!

Actually remembered & able to synch. today - 1953 EdT - Pell Wall.

Named for the year of Her Majesty's Coronation and including most of the ingredients used in the preparation of the Coronation anointing oil since the 12th Century, including ambergris, rose, jasmine, orange flower, cinnamon and benzoin, with (synthetic) civet & musk.

Note to self (AGAIN!) remember to explore Pell Wall perfumes....remember to explore Pell Wall Perfumes...... I have intended to for ages and shame on me for not doing it sooner.

So today, well actually last week. I didn't pay full attention *blush*. I was only thinking about Mr Sheldrake. If I had realised that we were also doing Guillame and Wasser I would have certainly given a nod to Thierry's Shalimar Parfum Initial because it's terrific. I could also have played with some of the same samples as Dave, although, like knit I have no Perfumerie G's in my collection but I do have Pierre's Esvedra for Laboratorio Olfattivo and I oove that. Did that all make sense?

Anyhoo, back to today and it must be Penhaligons "Juniper Sling", now that is very English. What a lovely name. It has this fantastic juniper opening, very quickly overtaken by black pepper and then an ambery leathery dry down.

Smoker's corner—so many choices! Miss Balmain, for her "fond du ashtray" vibe? Or the cigar shop memories of Yatagan yet again? I may have a smidge of the SL Fumerie Turque sample a kind basenote-ist sent to me. Then there's Weil Kipling. Or Slumberhouse Jeke, whose lapsang souching note is smoked tea. Choices, choices (: I'm teaching today, so I think I'll go with Miss Balmain.

    Hello, fair maidens!

Busy-ness kept me from the last 2 synchs, so today I'm excited to get back. My tobacco is Dolce & Gabbana's The One -- the first fragrance I bought when I decided a few years ago, "Gosh, I think I'd like to wear some cologne or something." Then I searched online just to see if anybody else anywhere else had anything to say about it -- and you all know the rest of the story.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

    NEW FORUM MODERATOR SOUGHT

    Dear synchronisers,

Unfortunately, the time has come for me to hand over the duty of forum creation and moderation to somebody else. My life has become a lot busier and I find I am having trouble making time for updating the forum and following your posts.

I enjoyed a lot thinking about the sync list with you and playing along on Fridays when circumstances permitted. I will still be participating in the game when I can but I would be glad if somebody volunteerd to create and moderate the forum in 2014. I will of course still take care of the 2013 forum until the end of the year.

So please, if you think you'd enjoy facilitating this fun game in 2014 then don't hesitate to let us know!

    Good morning, all.

I don't have any brand-name Tom Ford or By Killian. But I do have YSL's rive gauche pour homme, which (I'm pretty sure) was released under Tom Ford's directorship. So I'm going with that.

Hi lpp. They are laid out for the whole year at the beginning of this thread. I't's been on the go for some years. We have enjoyed this year thanks to the hard work that Bonsai put in to set it up and manage it. Other members have managed it in previous years. I've seen references to the Facebook page coming up recently and I was never sure what that meant to Synchronised Fridays. I think that they have started to mention it there which is nice, but it doesn't originate there. Is this the explanation that you were looking for? I hope so.

So, to today's synch. I love it. I love fragrances with a cold character. I have the very thing. Lez Nez, The Unicorn Spell. A frosty forest and crushed violets. OK so some people say green beans. Yes there is a bit of that too, but overall it is very green notes and violets, and I had forgotten how weird and wonderful it is.

Bonsai, I am so sorry, in a moment of distraction I called you iodine in this post. I've fixed that. Sorry. But it's a nice mistake to make because she is lovely too!!

Okay, I have no idea of THE MOST LOVED OF 2013?????

On the other site there was a bit which showed your most worn for the year, now that would have helped me. Since we are back here I cannot find that.

It's probably not accurate due to moving (I can't tell as I didn't use it until recently), but there's a tab on the SOTD feature page that shows 'Your most worn'.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Acqua Universalis Forte

Not my most worn because I didn't discover it until November but definitely my most loved.

Do we have a new moderator yet?

WE STILL DON'T HAVE A NEW MODERATOR!!!

    Dear all,

The last sync of the year is approaching and there still haven't been any volunteers to take over the forum moderation duties. So please, if you think you'd enjoy organising the forum don't be shy and let us know!

    LAST CALL

    Dear synchronisers,

I am sorry to see that nobody has volunteered to create the 2014 sync forum. I am unable to do it so somebody will need to take the task on him-/herself, otherwise there will be no Friday syncs in 2014.

With this, I consider my duties fulfilled. I hope somebody will still volunteer, it would be a pity if this fun game had to stop.

Thank you, all, for playing together and I wish you a wonderful 2014!

A huge thank you to Bonsai for her management of Synchronised Fridays. It has been much appreciated Bonsai.

I have benefitted so much from "the Friday synch makes you think". I have had such fun and I have enjoyed seeing all the regulars here. I have tried to prioritise popping in here every week. Unfortunately my working pattern at present means that my visits to Basenotes are erratic. Sometimes I manage, sometimes I don't. I couldn't committ to the regular attention that this thread requires. I'm sorry.

Bonsai, thank you so much for doing this. It has made me grow and learn about fragrance.

I am so disappointed that no one has taken this up for 2014. Because I am such a novice at scent and just a beginner I am woefully unqualified for this task. However, if no one else will do it and if everyone will give me a suggestions for the list I will try.

Would the group please let me know if this is okay. Also, please make suggestions.

If I hear from enough of you that are still interested I will open a 2014 forum.
