Default New to forum, slight Noob with frags

Hey all, I wanted to introduce myself as I just joined. I'm new to the Frag hobby within the last 4-5 months. I've picked up a few already. As this is a new hobby (I already have two, shooting and Horology) I've jumped head first into it. Anyway a bit about me....
I'm a Cop in Pa, I'm 33, married with no kids yet. So far I have creed Green Irish tweed, pure havane, midnight in Paris edt, and I just ordered noir de noir. Any suggestions would be appreciated guy and gals! Again hello everyone and I look forward to talking and getting ideas of what to sample!

I love all your selections so far. Original Vetiver and Silver Mountain Water may be some good suggestions if you enjoy GIT.

I've sampled both so far, original vet seemed to take on a nice grassy green vibe upon application, but it got a bit too soapy in the dry down. Silver mountain water was very nice and when it begins to warm I'll Definitely be buying that! How about back to black?

Great to know there are wonderful smelling cops out there. At least those who break the law around you will be arrested in style.

    Welcome to Basenotes!
It is true that fish stink. It is also true that the river is
beautiful. But the river would be beautiful despite the fish. What
    is noxious remains so.

That is not to say that sh*t is not useful when buried in the wheat
field. Bread made from the field tastes sweet, wine from the arbor
sweetest. All things serve a purpose, but that is no reason to
glorify what is abominable. A man must still watch where he walks
    and keep his sandals clean.

Haven't tried Aventus yet, I'm getting familiar with tom ford. I like his private blend line. Tobacco vanille and Tuscan leather I got some decants of. Noir de noir, Tuscan leather, and creed royal oud are all very nice.

    Welcome!

I find Original Vetiver quite soapy too. But vetiver, as a material, is very fresh and green, and not soapy, ideal for warm weather, and there are many excellent vetiver perfumes: you go from mainstream like Guerlain Vetiver or Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, to more expensive, but good, niche stuff like Chanel Sycomore (more elegant, a touch woody) or even ($$$) Malle Vetiver extraordinaire.

Also, as a cop, it seems you should try some butch leather, such as the very classic Knize Ten (a floral leather with a distinct gasoline note) or the superbutch Etat Libre d'Orange Rien. But the cheap Estee Lauder Azuree is also wonderful (it's actually very close to Aramis, but less musky).

Hello Marine 1981, welcome, and thanks for your service

For a suggestion. A good way to sample fragrances, where buying a whole bottle could be quite expensive, is to participate in a split. Splits can be found in the Fragrance Splits Board in the Basenotes Market Place at the bottom of the forum webpage.

Just a suggestion to consider FWIW..........................Cheyne

So I ordered millesime imperial today (I know this is a summer frag) and I also ordered YSL le nuit homme, I still have decided on my tom ford purchase yet, noir de noir or oud wood. Oh and I jumped on a Black Friday deal on back to black

You know, you're going to hear varying testimony on this here, so speaking about my own personal experience, when I would put it on in the morning heading for my firm I could still smell it upon leaving my office in early evening.
