Thread: what scent won't you buy again? |
my mistakes were: Versace PH, Versace The Dreamer, One Million, Serge Noir, Polo Black, Paul Smith for men
paco rabanne Ténéré, Must De Cartier, d&g the one.
...see my wardrobe...!
Most likely, the majority of Coty scents in my wardrobe - pleasant if generic notes, yet close to zero longevity.
Gentiane Blanche, hands down.
Worst purchase i ever made was Pasha Cartier. I mistook it for something else. And ended up with something that literally made me sick.
Also:
Le Male: Still have my first bottle from the 90's
Pi: Nauseatingly sweet
Emporio HE: Something about it rubs me the wrong way now.
Nautica Voyage - absolutely hideous!
My current top 10 (subject to change) in no particular order:
Rive Gauche Pour Homme, Essenza de Zegna, Zegna Essenze Amber Gold, Armani Privé Sable Or, Armani Privé Vétiver Babylone, Mancera Cedrat Bois, Acqua di Giň Profumo, Amouage Dia Man, L'Artisan Explosions d’Emotions: Amour Nocturne, Zegna Essenze Italian Bergamot/Acqua di Bergamotto
Creed Aventus.
Any of the Polo fragrances. Most of the Channel Line.
Hugo Boss Pure
YSL PH Haute Concentration
Power by Fifty Cent
Versace the Dreamer
D&G The One
Moschino Friends
Bvlgari Blv
Most of them are fortunately only samples or miniatures: Yatagan, Equipage, Bel Ami, Terre d' Hermes, Encre Noire, Aventus, Lidge, Polo Explorer, Azzaro PH, Ungaro II, Epic Man, Bandit Light ph, Bvlgari Black, Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui, La Nuit L'Homme, D&G The One, Azzaro Acteur, Cartier Declaration flankers, plus many others
"Le parfum est la musique du corps" (Marcel Rochas)
Le Labo Patchouli 24. Don't get me wrong; I think it is a great scent. It's just that, at least on my skin, that fireplace/bbq sauce smell never dries down into anything and it just gets old to me.
My Top 5!!!
1. 1740: Marquis de Sade, Histoires de Parfums
2. 1899: Ernest Hemingway, Histoires de Parfums
3. Tirrenico, Profumi del Forte
4. 1969, Histoires de Parfums
5. Derby, Guerlain

Can't think of anything in my collection that I wouldn't consider buying again if the need arose and was justified.
Antaeus - Had to get rid of it as I got many negative reactions from people wearing this one.
Dunhill London (new version) and Gucci by Gucci pour homme.

"Le parfum est la musique du corps" (Marcel Rochas)
"Dior Eau Sauvage Perfume". I disliked it very much and could not even wash it off.
May be that's the only good thing about it, it lasted for ever.
Only counting the ones I got full bottles of:
Polo green (the latest version is nothing like the old stuff.. scent and longevity are poor now)
Bvlgari Black (longevity just ain't there)
Oscar de la Renta pour Lui (nice, but too similar to One Man Show which I own and like, so ODLRPL is redundant).
D&G The One (didn't buy this, given to me as a gift, but horrid longevity).
Burberry Touch (too powdery and feminine)
Jovan Musk (heavy feminine perfume vibe to me)

Agree. Sampled it at Neiman Marcus, and didn't seem like anything special. Might buy and give it more of a chance if it was *way* cheaper.

Well, I feel that way about VanCleef & Arpels PH. We all have different tastes, I reckon.

Silver Mountain Water. I'm trying to get rid of this stuff from more than 3 years...I don't know what I was thinking when I bought it.
I really like Aventus, but I'd definitely be cautious to buy it again because it's just so damn inconsistent.
Aside from that, I'm trying to get rid of my Allure Homme Sport, and will probably sell Dior Homme Sport and L'Eau D'Issey at some point in the new year. I don't think I'll ever buy a 'Sport' fragrance ever again.
purchases i most likely won't do again:
eternity, drakkar noir, love and luck, eternity, kc reaction, rochas man
Most of the fragrances in my wardrobe. Not because I don't like them, but because I'd like to try other fragrances that I haven't smelled before.
I don't imagine I'd buy any scent again just because I'd rather enjoy something new rather than more of the same (I've never bought a second bottle of any scent).
In my small collection D&G Light Blue is something I'd replace if I had the chance. It serves it's purpose as a safe, inoffensive, versatile scent, but there are others that could fill that same role and do so a little better (e.g. Aqua de Gio, John Varvatos Artisan).
I also find that I almost never wear my Lagerfeld KL Homme because I've grown to dislike the strong powdery note in it.
Way too many to list. Silver Mountain Water, Montale Marine Fougere, Chez Bond, Noir de Noir, Creed Spce and Wood... many many more.
Hi, I'm William | My Swap Thread | My Sales Thread
Won't buy anything by Le Labo after trying three (Rose, Patch, Santal).
Somehow the chemistry just doesn't work with mine. Not pleasant.
All the John Varvatos fragrances. They all smell pretty decent, especially for designer fragrance, (don't get me wrong they don't approach the designer greats like M7, DH, DHI, Egoiste, or Pure Malt, etc). However, the longevity is appalling an quite frankly embarrassing.
Another, I won't buy again Montale Black Aoud. Too much rose, which I dislike. Dark Aoud for me!
Top notes of... sweat, gasoline, motor oil; a heart of deer musk and gunpowder, resting on a base of sex and testosterone... Mandom.
