I had a sample, and liked it. I think it's a scent that guys will appreciate more than women. Very tobacco-ey.

Update: Sorry guys. I was referring to regular GG. I didn't realize there was an "Only" edition.

Bottle looks a bit odd but perhaps it will be awesome.

They're saying the right stuff but the jus looks like a simpering aquatic. The bottle is actually a reference to the original bottle for Gentleman, no?--the one without the plastic collar, just a glass, um, protrusion. I will now await spring with particular eagerness because Fragrantica lists 'birch leaves' as a note. A note truly in the American grain. As Frost said, "So was I once myself a smeller of birches./ And so I dream of going back to be." So true.
Thanks for the news! Looks promising.

Very excited about this one despite the choice of color. Of course, color doesn't always indicate anything about the fragrance. The notes sound great and Gentleman is one of my all-time favorites. Has Givenchy ever done a flanker of it? It would seem odd for the not to have, but I don't think I've heard of one before now. Does anyone know exactly when this is supposed to come out?

Thanks for sharing the info. Haven't tested it yet, but am keen on doing so.

Gentlemen Only is intended to men of our times; it is designed around modern woody nuances. The composition opens with fresh and spicy accords of green mandarin, pink pepper, nutmeg and birch leaves. Deep and intense woody character is provided by the heart of cedar, patchouli and vetiver. The base captures incense and animalistic notes.
I must say I am not exactly hyperventilating, but hopefully it will at least be decent quality and share some character with the original.

When I read "modern woods and vetiver," I automatically think Iso E Super as a primary component. Not that there's anything wrong with that. In fact, reading the notes, I can't help but think of Terre D'Hermes with some incense and a little musk.

I'll definitely give it a shot if I run across it, but my hopes are not high. Makes me pine for a vintage bottle of the original more than anything!

I like the name, but the bottle is outrageously awful. GG is one of my all-time favourites and I can't even see this being of the same pedigree as the reformulation based on the notes and their description. Wasn't the tag-line for Red/Blue label 'The gentleman is back' anyway? Won't be the first time I've smelled a bad flanker.

I really hope they do justice to the original - one of the best masculine fragrances of all time.

I'm more afraid than anything. I hope Givenchy does not destroy this all time classic. I have worn GG since the early 90s and love it.

Very interested to try this one. I started to wear Givenchy Gentleman in 1979 and it has been my signature fragrance for years. I have been very disappointed by the reformulation - although the new one is not bad but it's the shadow of the vintage one - and hope that this new one is of the same vein as the vintage GG. Maybe I'm dreaming ........

I have a spray of this on my hand. The topnotes surprised me. Nothing daring, nothing special though. I advise the fans of the original to stay away from this flanker, because they will be enraged. This is basically a fresh, fruity, soapy, almost aquatic fragrance with interesting nuances of spice and a bit of incense. It's not bad. You could do a lot worse and there is a small chance that I will buy it sometime in the future. I can see this generating quite a bit of compliments. Fans of the classics, please stay away.

Fruity aquatic? I won't even sample it. I love GG, I have the vintage and the ultra-vintage versions of it.

If you love the original formulations, you better not test the Gentlemen Only flanker, LOL!
Unless you totally ignore the name and try it with an "open mind".
I get an aquatic vibe in the drydown, it smells similar to a shower gel.
But it's certainly no full-blown aquatic.

I must confess Gentlemen Only is a truly good fragrance. It is different from the most of recent releases either aquatics or sweet "1 Million" bombs. I would describe Gentlemen Only as subtle milky peppery in the style of L'Artisan Poivre Piquant, for example. What I feel is modern fruity semi-sweet molecules, a lot of pepper / incense with a woodiness in the dry down. The result is a bit soapy, though elegant soft woody peppery scent. The longevity is inposing. Highly recommend.
