What is Fragrantia?
Got an e-mail from Fragrantica today, notifying me about a give-away for a new perfume, Vagabond Prince, blended by the well-known nose, Bertrand Duchaufour.
Well cool; a new perfume company that only releases ONE perfume ? Now there's a refreshing idea !
However, when I went to the companies official website, all the links for information sent me back to... Fragrantica pages.
When I went to the trademark page, the person who held the trademark for this perfume also held one other trademark - the trademark for the Fragrantica website.
Cool, is what I say, and hopefully the perfume turns out to be something worthy, even if there's currently no information provided on how to buy the darn thing.

What is Fragrantia?
Oops, I left out the "c".
I'm referring to Fragantica, the well-known perfume website.
Never been much of a speller I'm afraid.
I think Basenotes is better!
Life is too short to sample. Buy Blind| I am generally not interested in batch hunting or weak fragrances.
[UK] - FÈVE DÉLICIEUSE splits
Top 10 in no particular order:
Amouage - Epic Man
Montale - Black Aoud
Montale - Aoud Lime
Boucheron - Jaipur pour homme edp
Hermes - Terre d'Hermes pure parfum
Thierry Mugler - A Men Pure Malt
Serge Lutens - Ambre Sultan
Rochas - Lui
Davidoff - Cool Water
Mancera - Cedrat Boise
They're marketing their own fragrance? Scary.
Cool name for a frag though.
I think one of the Fragrantica founders is painting the bottle... I am certainly interested in trying it, but it looks like it could be pricey.

I think "Vagabond Prince" is the company and "Enchanted Forest" is the name of the fragrance. I'm not exactly sure what the connection to Fragrantica is.
It's the project of Fragrantica's "Zoka" (Zoran Knezevic) and his wife, Elena:

The thing that gives me pause about this fragrance is that the scent is composed around the "Blackcurrant" note which is not my favorite note. It will be interesting to see how it is done and if the supporting notes and blend end up been greater than the sum of it's parts.
will test it for sure

I did wonder about that...![]()
You, a vagabond?? LOL! I think someone over 100 years ago stole the title of Prince of the Dandies.
Actually some fragrance companies and fragrance endeavours attempt to launch their own scents with varyng degrees of success.
L'Artisan made Aedes for Aedes de Venustas. I understand this is quite nice.
There were a few scents marketed for the e-tailer Fragrancenet.
Lucky Scent/Scent Bar recently released their own offerings.
As with all scents, a test with the nose is in order.
"The sunset is deeper and longer. The scent of the jasmine is stronger." Miracles. Pet Shop Boys
"Thick dome of jasmine
(Under the dense canopy where the white jasmine),
Blends with the rose,
(That blends with the rose),"
"The Flower Duet," Lakme by Leo Delibes, 1881
And wasn't there an abandoned attempt to produce a Basenotes fragrance ??
Given the depth of Fragrantica's involvement in the perfume world, I suspect this stuff will be "interesting" at the very least.
Not interested. It needs more cliches in the name.
Just found out I won a free sample of this stuff. I'll wait with baited breath.
I recognized a few other Basenoters on the winners list as well.
Nice.
Great! I'm looking forward to reading reviews by BNers.
Yikes I won a sample ! Odds were almost 17-1, if my math is correct.
Now, if only I could beat those odds in some other areas of life !
Then again, perhaps they just wanted to make sure that an adequate number of BNers got samples.
Whatever the case ( and given what the retail price may end up being ) I'll take it !![]()

Just my sample of this stuff tonight. I just put it on a few minutes ago, so I can't give it much of a review, but I can say that this is quite different from anything I can think of. The Black Currant certainly dominates, but there is a lot more there. I am not sure yet if I like it, but I am sure glad I have a sample. This is certainly not bad - so far...

I just posted this on the female side (didn't realize I was over there- doh!) so I'm copying and pasting the content below because I'm lazy.
Mine came in the mail today as well and just dabbed some on my wrist. I apologize for not possessing the descriptive skill necessary for the reader to get an accurate impression of the fragrance. I am vague because I don't want to come across as a pretentious poser, but I know what I like and so far (30 minutes in), Enchanted Forest is a like. I detect a sweetish wild berry and something coniferous floating in the background. Hope the dry-down doesn't disappoint. My main concern is if it might be too feminine.
I just transferred the dabber vial contents to a spray vial so maybe I can give a better impression after a more complete wearing. Again, so far... pretty nice.
Thanks for posting birdboy. Won a sample and its good. It has a fruit aromatic after shave smell at the start and dries down to a spicy hot floral vanilla.

Any opinions I post here about frags only reflect MY PERSONAL TASTE and only my personal preference which could change at any moment.
The top and middle were quite a bit more interesting than the base imo.
Got a sample as well. Only smelled it in the vial so far, but it is definitely interesting from what I've sniffed. Have to get an atomizer from Sephora or something to give it a proper wear.
