Default Blind buy gone good. Very good! Masque Russian Tea

After reading reviews by people whose taste I trust, I got in on a large split (with bottle) of Masque Russian Tea. I know better than to blind buy, but this one seemed like a no-brainer. Whoh! This is some incredible stuff!!! Of course there is a black tea note, but also a smoky aspect that wafts in and out, just like smoke. There is a top note of mint that is not at all like toothpaste, it just rounds out the smoke, and unlike some reviewers I detect the touch of mint for hours. There is also a raspeberry note that adds a slight sweetness. Black pepper is included in the notes too, and again unlike some reviews I can detect the pequint note of pepper throughout the middle phases. I need to wear this more to do a full review, but mine would pale when compared to reviews already posted. Suffice it to say, this is one f the best new scents I hage smelled in a long time. I have found my tea scent and it is Masque Russian Tea.

Congratulations. Sounds also like something I would enjoy if the mint is not too strong. I will be looking out for this in the future.

My only concern is that the raspberry and mint has been exaggerated in reviews and are much more muted in reality, and what results is just a smoky tea frag with a tiny, almost non-existent hint of each.

But you seem to get a good amount of each.

I'm not looking for a raspberry mint frag, but I want them to at least be present.

It's been on the blind buy burner for a while now.

I really like this one, but couldn't *quite* get to outright love in the end. The open and early heart were the best parts for me, almost having me reach for my wallet too. The later heart and late dry-down though also good just wore me down with their linear potency a bit too much and had me put the wallet back on the dresser. I still think the composition is a success on the whole and can easily understand the love folks have for it. Congrats on getting one of the better releases of 2014 in your collection!

I would not say either the raspberry or the mint is exagerated, but masterly proportioned. Too much mint and you get toothpaste. I notice the mint quickly, perhaps because I was raised near mint farms and I can detect the note is small amounts. The mint here just lifts the smoke a bit to my nose making it more etherial. I detect it will into the middle phase but so very lightly. Others have said it leaves quickly.

The raspberry likewise adds a touch of a fruity note which uplifts the tea, but it is a deep dark raspberry. Sometimes the skin of fruit is a little bitter or astringent, and I get this from the raspberry, the black tea or maybe both. The pepper keeps this scent grounded.

Thanks, Akahina. And nice description. I think I might close the year out with this. The notes sound great and I undestand what you mean by 'masterly portioned.' Curious to try something from this house as well.
