Default Gucci Pour Homme - what is a fair price?

I really want to own a bottle of this and I have managed to find a Brand new sealed 100ml bottle for £80.00. Do you think this is a fair price or too much?

    Thanks

I like this scent a lot but personally I wouldn't pay that. Bear in mind it is a strong one and it would take a long time to get through 100ml unless you have a very small collection. Have you tried DS2's Potion? It is quite similar (to me) although a bit lighter.

I paid $50 for a 1.7 Gucci Pour Homme I, it should last me quite a while and I felt it was a fair price considering the relative rarity of the fragrance now.

I paid around $70-80 for my bottles of Gucci pour Homme earlier this year, but considering the growing rarity of this scent, I don't think the price is ridiculous. Have you tried it before, do you know you love it?

If I didn't have any bottles, I'd certainly pay $1.00-$1.25/ml for this scent.

Gucci pour homme undoubtedly is one of the finest fragrances on the earth. I got this bottle very recently and was a 2010 release for 50 $.

    Cheers!!!!

I looked on ebay for you, and I guess I looked for me too because I'm interested in this one. The price you've been quoted seems quite reasonable, in my view.

I ordered mine from a store in London who i guess were getting rid of old stock. The manager must not have realised their rarity as they were going for around £23 from memory. Gucci Pour Homme...absolute classic!

Buy a bottle of Balmain's Carbone.

This is a discontinued fragrance, but I had a local merchant try to sell me 100ml for $65 inclusive yesterday. But Tommy Bahama (in brown bottle) smells identical for $20.

There's a fragrance kiosk inside Manhattan Mall in NYC that sells GPH I. I don't have any intention of buying it, but out of curiousity, I asked how much he is charging for it. $90 was his answer for a 1.7oz bottle. My local fragrance store here in Jersey City has the same bottle for just $60.

I assume you're asking for the one in Manhattan Mall since you are located in NYC. I was there yesterday, and only saw the small bottle, which is sitting on top of GPH II. Not sure if they have the 100ml, as I didn't ask (turned off by the high price). Sorry. They seem to have some discontinued products like BY Man (D&G), not sure if it's authentic since I wasn't able to check the bottle.

    No, it's aftersave.

For a sealed Gucci Pour Homme 3.4 oz., don't expect to pay less than $100 and try not to spend more than $150.

You can still find them randomly in Sephoras believe it or not. I found a brand new one a few months ago and I thought I was seeing things. Scooped it for $73.

If you look around you should be able to find it for less. I bought my first bottle in the U.K. so I know it had wide distribution there. I got it at Harrod's around '02 and I think I paid about £80 for it but I know prices went down before it was discontinued. There are probably bottles still sitting on shelves for the old reduced retail prices, but will require some searching and looking - lots of looking around. Watch Ebay for a while. On the other hand, your time might be worth more to you than the £30 - £50 you might save by finding a bargain. £80 could buy you lots of saved time searching for great deal. If you can easily afford it, I would say buy that bottle.

I just saw that. Is this thread a year old?

Sadly, I'm very poor so the cheaper the better. I assume the aftershave is much weaker. I'd never seen the aftershave, which is what worried me.
I can't go to Sephora, as I live in the UK. The eBay prices are ridiculous. The last 100ml EDT went for something like £150. Some people obviously have more money than they know what to do with!
I have heard that Comme des Garçons 2 is similar, but that's silly money too. I might go for some Juicy Couture Dirty English as a cheap substitute.

Carbone de Balmain is a very good substitute. A quality fragrance that can be had for $35 for 100 mls. I actually prefer it to GPH.

You may want to take a look at it.

That IS the correct answer though.

Look online. Check ebay. Check Amazon. See what the going rate is for a bottle and then ask yourself "Would I pay that much?" I think it's worth it, but you're not me, so my opinion isn't relevant to your wallet.

EDIT: oh, geez, we've been ensnared by the outdated thread trap
