Of the three, I voted for Chanel Pour Monsieur, but my favorite 1950s-60s classic cologne is Eau d'Hermès.

+1 Chanel Pour Monsieur, but I'd also add Guerlain Vetiver (vintage).

Armani Eau pour Homme (Vintage), Eau de Guerlain or Eau de Rochas Homme are all preferable to the 3 in the vote. Even O de Lancôme and Eau de Rochas (without the Homme) should be considered.

All of these are soon to be gutted by new EU regulation so hurry...

All classics, I can't vote for just one of these. I'm wearing original Monsieur De Givenchy aftershave which is more subtle than the others but magnificent. There are plenty of times when I would rather wear something stronger and would go for the others (probably Chanel Pour Monsieur as a day to day scent as Eau Sauvage can be a little bit loud in it's old fashioned sort of way.)

Love the Chanel, like the Dior, have fond memories of the Givenchy, but Guerlain Vetiver is the classic of choice for me.

I enjoy either of the three, but if I had a choice, it would be difficult to decide between Eau Sauvage and Chanel pour Monsieur.

    !
OK, brotato. Guess I got nothin' then...
Fahrenheit is a classic citrus scent? It must have really changed then, because a sample I had a few months ago was all about oil and grease scent (and I've been around enough oil and grease to know).

Thanks for replying. By same genre as Chanel Pour Monsieur, Monsieur de Givenchy and Eau Sauvage I was meaning a classic mens edt based around citrus accords.

Hard choice, but because I think that the IFRA restrictions have been deleterious to the genre of masculine citruses (without bergamot or oakmoss, they smell emptier).

I recently smelled Eau d'Hadrien, and all I could think was lemon pledge ...

I feel exactly the same. A very difficult decision for me between MDG and CPH. I think I too would give Monsieur de Givenchy the edge.
Much as I admire Eau Sauvage, as a teenager in the seventies in the UK, every second man was wearing this fragrance and it sort of killed it for me

    David -

I took the road less traveled and chose the 4th option...all three and more! Each is a wonderful and classic fragrance. I have, respect and enjoy all three of them in both Vintage and recent/current formulations.

I think that they all offer something slightly different to the genre and I find myself adoring the one I am wearing at the time. I did wear Vintage Eau Sauvage to my oldest son's First Communion last May on a warm, sunny day in Northern California. It was fantastic. However, I have also enjoyed Monsieur de Givenchy and Chanel Pour Monsieur on special occasions as well.

You cannot go wrong here...the question is, which one do you find a personal affinity with most (if you were forced to choose)? For me, I am lucky and Blessed - as I get to choose which to wear (Vintage or Newer reformulation)...along with other timeless citrus scents including Acqua di Parma (various bottlings), Armani Eau Pour Homme (Vintage & Current), YSL Pour Homme (Vintage and Recent, but not current) as well as YSL Pour Homme Haute Concentration - and also Monsieur Balmain, Eau de Rochas Pour Homme and, the classic...Guerlain Imperiale (Extra Dry is my preference).

The world of Aromatic Citrus scents is so vast - there is something special in each and every brilliant creation...

    Cheers, my friend.
