    Default Gems of the Den

For shaving enthusiasts, your daily choice for what combination of brush, bowl, cream, soap, aftershave, etc can be as daunting as your SOTD.

What is your favorite combination for the Sunday luxury shave?

Preshave: Proraso pre/post sensitive skin (oat and aloe.)
Brush: Omega Boar (loves me some backbone.)
    Razor: R89 Grande
    Blade: Lord Super Platinum
Cream: Speick lathered on top of...
    Soap: TOBS Sandalwood (Uberlather!!)

hopefully don't need my styptic pencil...
I use an alum block for fingertip grip on my face

    Aftershave splash: Luckytiger (citrusy goodness.)
    Aftershave Balm: Speick

Well, that's what I am going to be doing the next time I have 45 minutes to spare anyway...

I really really really like I Coloniali shave soap cream (yep that's what they categorize it as) and a chubby 3 Manchruian.
I then follow it up with I Coloniali's aftershave balm.

    Current routine now consists of:

C&S Oxford and Cambridge soap. The creamiest, thickest, slickest, most cushioning and awesome smelling soap I know.
    Merkur 34c razor.
No pre-shave stuff, just a hot flannel.
Post-shave I use Liz Earle's toner followed by her moisturiser. After experimenting with countless balms, astringents, etc etc, I find this to be the kindest and most hydrating for my skin.

Are you using the sensitive shave, the mango oil, or the rhubarb?

Just as mentioned on another quite similar thread, some Proraso shaving products are on my upcoming purchase list (considering their shaving soap and their pre-shave cream, but not limited to these buys alone).

Yeah, it is the mango oil I Coloniali. I picked mine up from Connaught a few years ago and now I'm keen to smell Fat Electrician to see if it does smell similar. I Coloniali does smell great, and rather unusual, too.

My luxury shave would probably be:

Prepping my face with a shower, then Proraso Pre/Post
using a Simpsons Chubby 2 in Super
to whip up a lather with AdP shaving cream
then shaving it off with a Merku Futur
loaded with a Red Personna blade.

    Then a Bloc Osma
finishing with Musgo Real classic aftershave or if it's warmer Captain's Choice Bay Rum.

That would be a pretty damn good shave for me, but who knows? I've got dozens of items in my collection that I've never even tried :S

So far, only got to purchase the pre-shave cream of the Proraso green line, it has already become an important (and very soothing, cooling and refreshing) part of my daily shaving routine.

I was accidentally shipped a sample of Dr. Harris Marlborough instead of MWF. I now prefer Doc Harris to TOBS.
    Other preference alterations...
LEA after shave balsam feels and smells great.
    AoS Lavender for shave cream.

The wife likes and uses my otherwise unused Arko stick...

I've long rated D.R. Harris above ToBS. Marlborough's a good soap, as is their lavender. Arlington smells nice, but I find it only lathers so-so (by comparison). The shop itself exists in a genuine time-warp - worth a visit if you're ever in London.
