Default What are some more "barbershop" scents that I can try?

I love the old school, barbershop vibe and tend to wear that style the most. I only recently discover Rive Gauche and it has quickly become a favorite. I was looking for more frags along those lines. Below are the ones I have that are along those lines:

    RGPH
    Azzaro PH
    Aramis
    Quorum
    Tabac Original EdC

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Old Spice, of course. Longevity is pretty short lived IMHO.

Pinaud Clubman is something else worth trying; it is technically an aftershave but sticks around for a while. If you're my age (40) or older, you'll almost certainly recognize the scent. In fact my local barbershop uses Clubman Talc after the shave.

Yup I am also 40, and the barber always dusted me with Clubman talc after a haircut. I forgot to mention that I do have both Clubman, and Special reserve which I really like.

Special Reserve is pretty nice - it's the Pinaud take on leather.

My favorite Pinauds are the Vanilla (which is actually a pretty nice vanilla, if linear) and Citrus Musk (a great warm-weather fragrance.) None are "barbershop" but they are quite good in their own right.

This. I was going to say pretty much this, but sjg3839 beat me to the punch. Good god, you have great taste

I might also recommend Prada Infusion D'homme. It's extremely "clean", and that might tickle your fancy.

As much as they're asked about maybe we need an official barbershop thread. Anyway this guy goes through and rates and describes a bunch of barbershop frags. I agree with him on Brooks Bros "1818". If you like the smell of shaving cream it dries down to that for hours. http://pourmonsieurblog.blogspot.com...p%20Fragrances

+1 on Clubman by Pinaud. I have a vintage Cologne concentrate and aftershave that lasts all day and smells great! The epitome of a barbershop scent if you ask me.

BB 1818 is a fantastic frag. Believe it or not, Paul Sebastian is a great contender in that category.

    nice suggestions thus far...

I'll add Proraso after shave. Essentially, the Italian Old Spice.

Also look at Tiffany for Men and Richard James EDT if you like this type of powdery and spicy aroma. The Baron is another great powdery floral bomb. There's been a lot of discussion on the Powerhouse/Old School Group board about barbershop fragrances, so you may get some ideas looking through those threads. For the most part, barbershops will use affordable materials (Clubman, Lustray) and not high-end niche items, at least here in the States.

I know this isn't a fragrance, but check out Donnie Hawleywood's Barber products, very nice unique scent. And hes a good buddy of mine. http://www.hawleywoods.com/ has grooming creams etc...you would love the scents if you are looking for that barbershop vibe.

Davidoff Relax is the quintessential barber shop scent: Lavender, spearmint, anise, leather, moss and some vanilla among many other notes.

Original Vetiver doesn't have a barber shop vibe to me, it's just really clean.

I would suggest Mugler Cologne if you're going for a OV type smell. It's cheaper and better imo.

Thank you for all the great suggestions. I have several samples coming from the recommendations here. I have to say the notes in Relax really intrigue me. I love spearmint and haven't found it in many frags, though recently I picked up Dirty from Lush which has a nice spearmint among the herbal notes.

To my nose, incidentally, today's SOTE, namely Crabtree & Evelyn Sandalwood, has a slight barbershop touch of soapniess, powderiness, cleanliness and understated yesteryear classiness to it.

Hawleywood No. 9 is a bay rum, and it's not bad.
