Eau D'Orange Verte
Happy new year everyone.
I've been thinking it's time I embellished my small collection with one of of JC Ellena's fragrances for Hermes. I was initially in love with Terre EDT, but after only a couple of weeks began to find it overpowering. I have done a complete 180 and no longer wear it, though I can understand the love it gets.
Anyway, I'm looking for a spring summer scent from this house and have tried each of the following 4 on testcards. Initial impressions are positive for all of them, but what do you guys think? Which of these 4 would you consider wearing during the warmer seasons?
Eau D'Orange Verte
Voyage D'Hermes EDT
Un Jardin Sur de Nil
Un Jardin en Mediterranee
Eau D'Orange Verte
Eau d'Orange Verte. But note: Jean Claude Ellena did not do this scent, it was done in 1979 by Francoise Caron, before JCE was the 'in-house perfumer' at Hermes.
I have fond memories of wear EdOV on a summer cruise many years ago. If you can afford it, do what I did: Buy the fragrance, the Body Lotion, the Soap, the Shampoo. When you use all of them layered together, it makes this light, transparent scent even more tenacious.

pretty unanimous then (so far). Thanks everyone.
Voyage EDP
I'd say:
Eau D'Orange Verte
Voyage D'Hermes EDT
Voyage D'Hermes EDP
Eau D'Orange Verte
Although if you get into the Hermessence line I'd reccomend Santal Massoi. It does very well down here in hot/humid Miami, FL.
I agree with the above posts. I personally found the Un Jardin line to be very mediocre. Sur Le Toit and Sur Le Nil were ok but not bottle worthy. I did not like en Mediterranee at all.
Current Winter Favorites:
1. House of Matriarch - Blackbird
2. Brückner - Aoud 1
3. Creed - Royal Oud
4. Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777 - Generation Man
5. Armani Privé - Oud Royal
6. by Kilian - Straight to Heaven
7. Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777 - Mortal Skin
8. Ormonde Jayne - Black Gold
9. Creed - Royal English Leather
10. by Kilian - Cruel Intentions
Thought there would be more fans of the Jardin line. Also, no one really big on Voyage EDT? I think it's lovely - lemon, ginger, tea, but very light and airy. Probably between that and Eau D'Orange Verte at the moment.
probably voyage
orange smells exactly like an orange, but im not sure everyone wants to smell like that
Eau d'Orange Verte, and, Concentre' d'Orange Verte (this is the updated version done by Jean-Claude Ellena) . . . cheers!

I personally have a bit of a problem with Eau D'Orange Verte. I like to wear it sometimes but as someone pointed out, you have to enjoy smelling like an orange (and smelling like an orange for just about 30 minutes). I like the very faint other notes, something vaguely mango and something more ethereal that I can't place but they too are gone in a very short time.
I don't know the other scents you mentioned so can't comment but for me EDOV is one to buy only if you can get it massively discounted.
Jardin Mediterranee would be my favourite. I really adore that one
I wouldn't wear any of them, but would go for Concentre d'Orange Verte, which is a favorite of mine during Summer (MI, VIW, and Concentre are my three biggies during Summer).
I enjoy the smell of Mediterranee, but over time have come to believe it's better on women than men.
Not a fan of the others.
Current Top Five:
1. Creed Green Irish Tweed
2. Tom Ford Neroli Portofino
3. Hermes Concentre d'Orange Verte
4. Bond No. 9 New Haarlem
5. Creed Original Vetiver
Another suggestion from the Hermessence line: Vetiver Tonka. This is a great scent and has better longevity than others in the line. One of my all time faves![]()
