I decree is the best designer fragrance in existence. That is all, as you were.

I have commanded my subjects to deliver a sample of this scent to me. They are feverishly working on this order at this moment. The decree stands until a new one is issued.

If that is the case, then how come you have another designer house ahead of DHI in your top 10? lol

Part of me would like to try this, but another part of me is scared to, because of the terms I've seen associated with this one: girly, makeup/lipstick smell, sweet, powdery, etc. I'm pretty sure DHI wouldn't be my cup of tea.

Only as a figurehead. The real power behind the throne is weilded by DHI.

That's nonsense, sure the topnotes have that vibe but the heart off the scent is off the charts. The topnotes are there so that we can more deeply appreciate the rest. The topnotes confuse our senses so that we are more blown away by incredible mid and basenotes. It wouldn't be the same without the iris, lipstick, handbag vibe a the start.

Order some small sample. You could be surprised how masculine it is in its darkness. I too dislike too sweet frags but this i don't find too sweet or lipstick-kind.

Not a bad fragrance, but the best designer in existense, not quite.

As long as you like it, that is most important.

I thought the same thing and neglected going anywhere near the Dior Homme line. Big mistake. Can't tell you how many times I've been complemented when wearing DH and DHI by women.

Prefer M7 myself, but DHI is one of the few designers that I own and enjoy on the occasions that I wear it. However, if we were to get technical and allow Costume National and Comme des Garons onto the designer list (although some consider them niche), I wouldn't choose a Dior or YSL for a first pick.

That's exactly my first impression on DHI. My advice:

Be a man and give it a full wearing. Don't stick your nose where you spray/apply it; smell its sillage instead, just like how others would smell it on you.

I suggest this for all fragrances. Smelling it with wrist pushed up against nose is not the correct way of assessing a fragrance IMO.

It is wonderful stuff. I think one of the keys is not to use too much. The sillage is intense on DHI. One spray is perfect for me. I can smell myself all day and it's not overpowering with one spray. More than that makes me feel like I've overdone it.

Beyond any doubt, standing out amongst so many designer releases, this one succeeding to be rather unique where so many other scents may fail and/or remain too generic.

Actually boys, ADG is the king of designers. Just ask the sales associates at any fragrance outlet who has sold the most. DHI bows it's pretty little head in shame at the one true king.

I wonder what Tropics would say about this thread.

Anyway, I would have to agree with this:

dh is good but only to most of the fragrance enthusiast, if you where ask a guy on the street if they liked it they would probably say its too sweet and not a pastry sweet but like a wet smooch sweet. its great but it takes the right person to appreciate it. i am guessing this would sell better to women but its good to know this is marketed to men and not to many wear it.
Any opinions I post here about frags only reflect MY PERSONAL TASTE and only my personal preference which could change at any moment.

I agree. Unless you walk around with your nose in your wrist and ask others to do the same. This isn't wine testing.

The number beside the fragrance is not a rating but simply a quantity. My opinion on the order of my top ten changes so often that I don't bother to change the order. I suppose it would be more accurate to eliminate the numbers and just list them.

I've not yet smelled DHI and from reading the many comments about it I am curious.
The best designer fragrance I've ever tried is Third Man by Caron. And if you don't count Caron as a designer house, Gucci Nobile, though not currently on my signature list, is my favorite.
    Current Favorites:
    1. Le 3me Homme - Caron
    2. Yatagan - Caron
    3. Van Cleef & Arples Pour Homme
    4. Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme
    5. Kouros - YSL
    6. L'Anarchiste - Caron
    7. Xeryus - Givenchy
    8. V.I.P. Special Reserve - Giorgio Beverly Hills
    9. The Dreamer - Versace
    10. Nobile - Gucci

Imo the original vintage Dior Homme is better than DHI. But the reigning king of designer is indeed AdG.

I don't know about that. They have a movie star in the ad campaign, they've got Guy Ritchie to do a mini-commercial, and I've seen ads (sometimes two page spreads) in GQ for DH, DHI, and DHS. I'm willing to bet Dior did the market research and the numbers were favorable. Just sayin'...
