I like the dry down a lot and the longevity is great. The smokiness in the top notes has kept me from wanting to buy a bottle, however. I felt like I was radiating smoke for a couple of hours after application.

    Two things:

    1. I'm literally foaming at the mouth waiting to try my sample from the sample set I ordered (it's at home now, but I'm on vacation).

    2. Josh (the perfumier) is literally the coolest guy. He included Sova and P+0, AND two other frags at no cost to me since I was curious and my order was taking "longer than expected," which in reality was like a week.

TY, Buys. I have heard great things about Pear & Olive too, can't wait to try it, as well as other fragrances from Slumberhouse.

They are very different. I think their only similarity is that they are both dark "forest" fragrances.

My biggest thing, is for years, I have been searching for a scent like this. Norne is the epitome of forest. The pine, pine cones, tree sap, fir, grounds, resins, woods. It's exactly what I have been looking for. I can't even remember how many threads I have made along the lines of "recommend me a good pine scent" -- one that really smells natural. I got replies from Quorum to Versace Green Jeans.. None of which met my expectations.

Believe it or not, Monkey's reply says it all. They simply aren't similar at all. Norne is superior in every facet imo, but I must admit that I don't care for Encre Noire at all. What I get from EN is the weird inky vibe and Norne is a natural pine forest. One of those scents that just makes you go "aaaaaaahhhhh".

The stuff lasts and lasts. It is dark dark dark green, it feels oily on my skin, but the juice in the bottle appears to be quite thin? There is a definite campfire smoke smell that I perceive continually from the fragrance. In my experience, although it lasts and lasts, it doesn't project too loudly.

When trying it, bear with it. Do not be turned off by the initial smell, because it develops and becomes a real gem.

About as similar as Tom Ford Italian Cypress and Polo (green) are to Encre Noire...which is not at all. Norne's overall scent reminds me of Tom Ford's IC and the old Polo (green). It's good stuff (if smoke doesn't bother you). The smoke dies away, eventually, and it becomes a wonderful scent. As a result of the absolutes, it's about as good as it gets for coniferous lovers.

I'm also waiting to try it. I have all the samples at home, so once I get back I can try them. I really want to like something from the house, as I would love to support a small perfumier, not to mention a GREAT guy in Josh.

I too wonder if it is just BN hype. Though, in the case of Pear and Olive, Brian Chambers seems to love it, and he has definitely earned my respect as a nose.

It's more pine than green. Not similar to GIT in the slightest.

Nope, nothing like GIT either. GIT is very green, but also very bright. Norne is dark, almost more black than green. Strangely, there is one fragrance that Norne reminds me of, and just ever so slightly. If you have ever tried English Leather Black, they are similar in way. Not in notes, but in feel.

Definitely it has a vintage Polo (green) vibe for sure but with a more coniferous focus. It is absolutely nothing like either Encre Noir or Green Irish Tweed as others have stated.

So as a follow up to my last post, nope, not BN hype. The stuff is magical, and you are right to wonder where it has been all your life.

It's mature but not age restrictive, deep and complex but not confusing, refreshing but not citrusy, and absolutely transportive. The first few hours this is on the skin, it's like you are in a coniferous forest, not a bedroom or house or meeting room or church. You are one with the forest.

I've only worn it once, but in that time I was wondering when I could experience it again. The only downside for me was a lack of longevity (which others apparently don't experience), as I only got 4 hours off of the one sample spray.

Strange that my impressions are so different - I was expecting a piney powerhouse, but all I get is a sawdusty, amateurish skin scent (with good longevity).
I got my sample directly from Slumberhouse - can it have been altered already? Maybe my nose is just terrible!

I definitely found it very sawdusty/dry (as opposed to moist foresty) too. Also, being an all-natural composition, it probably won't project as much as most commercial frags which utilize especially diffusive molecules like hedione, etc.
