Default Help me find an alluring perfume!

I've been hanging around for years but am new to the forum. Hello.

I'm hoping to get some alluring/seductive/very feminine fragrance suggestions. I simply can't afford to order all the samples I would like to try so I'm counting on your expertise here.

Some of my favourites are Volutes (edt) by Diptyque, Ambre Fétiche by Annick Goutal, and Tea for Two. I also like Yves Rocher's Rose Absolue. My natural smell is milky (or that's what I've been told) so I guess that is why spicy/vanilly scents work on me. I'm not so used to wearing flowery or green perfumes, but I do like L'Eau par Kenzo, and the opening notes of Philosykos. I dislike e.g. Angel, Lolita Lempicka, and Kenzo Amour.

I am from Northern Europe, naturally blonde, don't wear makeup, 24 years old.

Spicy, vanillary scents; Hypnotic Poison & Dior Addict. l also think you might like Estee Lauder Private Collection Amber Ylang Ylang.

How about Shalimar - the mother of all alluring vanilla perfumes!

Based on your other preferences, I'd also suggest:
    - Bulgari Black
    - Any number of ambers (Ambre Sultan, Ambre Russe, L'Occitane's Ambre, L'Artisan Ambre Extreme, Ambre 114, etc--not to suggest you need them all, but you get the idea.),
    - What We Do In Paris Is Secret
    - PdN Vanille Tonka
    - Mona di Orio Vanille
    - Prada Candy

Perhaps try Annick Goutal's Vanille Exquise? My take on alluring rarely has anything to do with vanilla, although it is a scent I love, but how do you feel about smokey, dark scents? Something like Caron's Pour un Femme or Molinard's Habinata. Leather is another note I find very sensual and attractive. Bandit or Visa being examples.

Personally I find the absolute warmth and softness of Love Chloe incredibly intoxicating and very alluring. I consider it one of the most unapologetically femenine scents around. Montale's Powder Flowers gives me a simmilar vibe. These may be too floral though.

For something else dark Montale's Louban is just gorgeous. More vanilla, Un Boise Vanille by Serge Lutens.

I find Madness by Chopard very sexy in a naughty kind of way with its crazy amounts of pink-pepper and rosewood (rosewood being one of my favourite notes) and if you're willing to do a bit of gender-bending I'd recommend Chopard's Noble Cedar. This smells absolutely divine on a woman's skin. Very deep and sensual. Plus the bottle is porn.

If you're willing to splash out in a big way Nina Ricci's Fille d'Eve is quite simply the most seductive thing ever put in a bottle. However you may not find it pleasing.

Well, may be a little off base here, but the most alluring scent I have smelt on my GF is Serge Lutens Une Voix Noire. To me, it was drop dead gorgeous.

Guerlain Oriental Brulant, Tonka Imperiale and Cuir Beluga are calling your name.. And you would wear Muscs Koublai Khan beautifully.

Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions! Every post features something interesting. I'm making a list of these.

Shalimar is always lurking somewhere round the corner, I've tried it several times but I don't see myself wearing it.
(I would like to have Initial L'Eau though. It has a pretty combination of dry, woodsy and floral layers, but of course it lacks the intoxicating feel and is more of a daytime scent.)

Dark and smoky feels like the way to go, and I don't mind gender-bending either.
Love Chloe appears to have a rice note listed. That's great, the smell of rice is lovely and I have been wanting to try perfumes with it. Fille d'Eve seems mysterious enough to be worth trying.

I forgot to mention that one of my favourite floral notes is gardenia, and I'm dreaming of buying Van Cleef & Arpels Gardénia Pétale. Therefore I'm definitely going to sample Une Voix Noire.

Dianabi's suggestions are going to have a high priority - they all seem lovely. Thanks for the encouragement to try out MKK!

Some of the others I have already sampled. Vanille Exquise is nice but maybe a bit too straightforward to be really interesting. It's the same with Prada Candy, plus it's way too sweet for me.

Anyway, I'm really happy with this sense of clarity on what to try next.

Fille d'Eve is definately worth trying but the parfum might set you back a pretty penny. There was a bottle lurking around on Amazon (15ml parfum in the original Lalique ground-glass bottle, which is amazing) for $300 or so, but you might pay less for another concentration. I see EDP/EDT's (not sure which as I'm only interested in the parfum) in the classic Nina Ricci atomizer that pop up on Ebay from time to time for fairly standard ebay vintage prices (a couple of hundred dollars,) in comparison I've seen Pour un Femme parfum, half-ounce bottles, for around $50.

Also something else that popped into my head is Oxygene by Lanvin which an ex of mine swore by as a major compliment-magnet. It's got a really intense milk note which you might like and is rather sexy in a breezy, easy going sort of way.

    Spicy vanilla?
Try Roberto Cavalli Eau De Parfum, the new fragrance. It's lovely, delicate and sexy. I absolutely love it.
If you like stronger vanilla you can try:
Alien Essence Absolue T. Mugler, Hypnotic Poison Dior, Cinema YSL, L'instant de Guerlain.

androidi, if you love gardenia, you really must try Estee Lauder Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia. Along with Gardenia Petale, it's the best gardenia l've tried, & l've tried a few!

Also, +1 for Alien Essence Absolue; this one has a lovely smoky vanilla drydown.

I was curious enough to check what Ebay has to offer before posting my previous comment. Some are asking $250 (or more) for the empty bottles... of course I would start collecting Lalique bottles if I could afford them. Unfortunately that moment is somewhere in the very distant future. My best chance for trying out the perfume is probably the 1 ml sample for $20 in the Perfumed Court.

Oxygene sounds promising, even though many of Alberto Morillas's creations (e.g. Flower by Kenzo, Aqua di Gio, Givency Pi, Lancome Miracle) are quite bland to my nose. I like the original Omnia though.

I wonder how close Alien Essence Absolue is to the original Alien? It sounds great but I have tried Alien a few times and it didn't really work on me.

Essence Absolue is quite different to the original Alien; the volume of the jasmine is turned way down. This one is much more about heliotrope, woods, vanilla & smoke.

Ebay is a famous rip-off den. Where people ask obscene prices for silly things in the hopes of finding a sucker, see if any of those bottles sell. I can tell you I've seen full bottles sell, and have bought a full bottle myself, for not much more than Ebay scammers want for the empty ones. Same goes with a lot of those gorgeous Nina Ricci flacons; Farouche is another.

Buying a decant/sample certainly seems to be the way to go, though. I'm always keeping my eye out for vintage Nina Ricci goodies so if you like I can PM you a link if I see the EDT/EDP on sale for a reasonable price.

Another: Bottega Veneta, I sampled this yesterday, fresh on the shelf, brand new and DAMN fine. If this doesn't end up jerked around reformulation wise I see it becoming a classic.

I was aware that Ebay prices may be ridiculous but I didn't expect them to be so absurd. I don't have any experience on buying vintage perfumes online so I just assumed that the perfume is very rare and didn't think about it much further...

It would be very kind to send a link if you happen to find the edp/edt, thank you.

Diptyque Eau Duelle might fit the bill. Woosdsy, spicy vanilla.

If you could get your hands on a bottle of organza indecence, it should to be right up your alley. Bombshell cinnamon vanilla, with a dash of orange and woods.

    Organza Indecence, yes.

    Le Parfum de Lalique.

You wrote you don't like Lolita Lempicka. Have you ever tried Si Lolita? It's an unusual LL scent I think and it could match, despite it has no vanilla. EdP and EdT are quite different to me.

Cruel Gardenia by Guerlain is a very beautiful fragrance.
Angelique Noire could also be interesting for you. Same league as Organza Indecence and Le Parfum de Lalique but a bit more fruity which could suit your milky base pretty well.

    Theorema by Fendi.

If you like fig scents less crisp than Philosykos, try Bois Naufragée by Parfumerie Générale.

Kaelee: Thanks for reminding me about Eau Duelle. It was not on the list yet but I've been interested about it after encountering Volutes.

Graphite: I haven't had a chance to try Si Lolita. I can't really imagine the sweet pea note. It looks interesting!

The problem with living in Finland is that here we have only some well-known perfume brands and their most popular(?) scents on the market. The biggest local department store sells perfumes from 57 brands (I counted on their website!) and that includes Christina Aguilera, Beyonce and J'Lo and the likes... Of course it's easy to order things online but it always costs something.

    Here's the list so far:

    Guerlain: Oriental Brulant
    Guerlain: Tonka Imperiale
    Guerlain: Cuir Beluga
    Guerlain: Iris Ganache
    Guerlain: Cruel Gardenia
    Chloé: Love, Chloé
    Chopard: Madness
    Chopard: Noble Cedar
    Serge Lutens: Muscs Koublai Khan
    Serge Lutens: Une Voix Noire
    Serge Lutens: Fumerie Turque
    Serge Lutens: Un Boise Vanille
    Bottega Veneta: Bottega Veneta
    Diptyque: Eau Duelle
    Dior: Hypnotic Poison
    Fendi: Theorema
    Givenchy: Organza Indecence
    Lalique: Le Parfum
Mona di Orio: Les Nombres d'Or Vanille
    Parfumerie Générale: Bois Naufragé
    Robert Piquet: Bandit
    Robert Piquet: Visa
Estee Lauder Private Collection: Amber Ylang Ylang
    Thierry Mugler: Alien Essence Absolue
    Caron: Pour un Femme
    Molinard: Habanita
    Nina Ricci: Fille d'Eve

    Default Dior Addict

I haven't had a chance to order any niche/exclusive samples yet so I've been trying out those few perfumes they have in the department stores here (Hypnotic Poison and Love Chloé). Yesterday I was standing in front of the fragrance shelf again when I remembered that someone also mentioned Dior Addict. I smelled surprisingly nice on paper so I tried it.

At home I noticed the drydown was a bit similar to HP. It made me curious and I started reading more about the perfume. Comparing the old bottle and the new one with the reformulated juice, I was almost certain that they had the original bottle in the dept store. Of course I had to go back today to make sure (and to compare Addict and HP).

Yes, they did have the old tester bottle in the shelf - the batch code revealed it was manufactured in 2004! Too bad the packages were of the new type... I almost wanted to buy it. However, Addict didn't quite fill the requirements for "alluring" because my boyfriend announced that it smells too chemical for him and he can't stand it (except the softest drydown). And he doesn't like HP either, describing it as "the sun lotion of a dark night"...
