Default Habit Rouge EDP new formula, advice needed

As put in the title, I need an advice on the Habit Rouge EDP new formula, or more like comparison between "red leather" and new one. I have read a review about previous one being more oud etc. but can a person with both tell if the new formula is noticeably worse than the older?

My main dilemma is the fact that I can buy the new one for $45/100ml from a local retailer while the vintage costs twice the price from the UK where I have to pay for shipment also (would prefer not to have my bottle travel entire Europe too).

Does the difference make up for doubled price or would a new bottle be just enough?

Or, are there better places to buy from in the USA (1 of my friends is coming to Europe soon and would bring a bottle if a better price can be found)?

I own both the older one with the red leather and the newer one.

The differences are very subtle, and I actually prefer the newer one to be honest. There is more of a leathery dry down in the new one, whereas in the old one, there was a sort of oudish note in the heart, but it is subtle and I don't miss it much in the newer one. In other words, the newer version is a little different, but in my view just as good as the old one (if not better).

Aha, thank you for your response. Looks like I am going to buy a new bottle then just put the extra money into a fund for a mouchoir de monsieur

My EdP is from 2011, transparent bottle, guess should be the current formulation and it does a powerful oud note, pretty much like vintage M7 to my nose (without cough syrup).

I have the clear bottle and it's my number one fall winter scent. I've never tried the red leather bottle but if it's better I can't imagine who it could be.

Yes, my thoughts exactly, specially on whats the oud concentration concerned, for me its already oud(y) enough . To be quite honest my first reaction was a bit of confusion and maybe a bit of disapointment since I was expecting a more focused, deeper version of the original HR scent, and this is a different beast altogether, that Ive learned to enjoy and admire for its own incredible merits.

    Agree.

The difference is indeed subtle; I personally prefer the older version (my vintage bottle is a couple of decades old) but the new one is a good scent too.

I have the US marketed Beau Cavalier bottle and the red leather bottle. I have not sniffed the leather bottle, so I cannot tell if there is a difference.

EDP 100ml for $45 sounds like a bargain. Where was it from?

A local site, it had a stock of testers but sold out about 3 months ago I think.
