    Default guerlain vetiver review

applied this sample last night to my arm, my left sleeve of my sweatshirt....has a citrusy, grassy, soapy vibe...not much else, stays linear..no smokiness...still noticeable on my shirt since i sprayed it on at 3am last night..does not smell bad...just does not really do anything for me..cant picture myself wearing this..

i am trying to picture what this frag reminds me of..cant think of it right now
14 sprays of DRAKKAR NOIR should do it

Thought it was boring first time I tried it.
Wore it last week and enjoyed it a lot. I think it would take a few wearings to start to appreciate properly in my case.

With Guerlain Vetiver, you have to wear it a few times to appreciate it.

    Love it
I use to think it smelled dated early on in my fragrance journey but that was just my inexperienced nose

I agree with the idea that you have to get used to it, since at least here in the USA it's not a common thing to smell anywhere.

Summer day, hot sun, lying on hammock with dappled shade. Glass of fresh-squeezed lemonade with a dash of angostura in hand. Someone is mowing the lawn nearby with a reel mower. Guerlain Vetiver.

I am a sucker for vetivers. This is a very well done one - one of the best. Not my favorite, but it is very wearable, quite versatile, and very nice smelling IMO. Not the one I reach for when I want a little something out of the ordinary, but a solid go-to vetiver when you want to keep it conservative.
    Seasonal favorites:

    1. Creed - Spice & Wood
    2. Creed - Aventus
    3. Dior - Vetiver
    4. by Kilian - Incense Oud
    5. Puredistance - Black
    6. by Kilian - Cruel Intentions
    7. Armani Privé - Oud Royal
    8. Brückner - Aoud 1
    9. Creed - Royal English Leather
    10. House of Matriarch - Blackbird

This, I'm afraid , is another sad story of reformulation. The original Vetiver was a wonderful, subtle sophisticated fragrance that was smooth and smoky, clean and citrus, rich and woody, all at the same time. The latest version, whilst still fairly pleasant has none of the complexity of the original. Bizarrely enough the major difference, to my nose, is that the latest version smells more of straight, smoky Vetiver oil, whilst the original smelled more of Vetiveryl Acetate. If you have ever smelled the two side by side, you will know what I mean.

I'm doused in this and love it. A very clean and comforting citrus with vetiver. The root lends a slight powdery tone instead of the pungency found in vintage. Personally, I find the reformulation more wearable and glad I have it now.
Is the juice worth the squeeze?
