Among perfume lovers it's well known and often praised as a masterpiece. I love it.

Never forgotten and always a classic.

Own it and enjoy it very much. I have the reformulated version would be even better if it projected and longevity was a little better.

    Neither 'old' nor 'forgotten'.

Certainly not forgotten round these parts -- considered a classic and masterpiece by many, including myself.

The vintage is slightly thicker and darker with oakmoss but the new stuff is still good.

Rev, you may be underapplying as it's not very potent. I tend to do 5-10 sprays.

Was all the rage on this forum six or so years ago. Hugely over-rated in my opinion. I agree with Damon above. It's a poverty-stricken juice. You get what you paid for.

I also agree with Monkey: it's hard to over-apply it's so bare.

Absolute classic - enthralling, mesmerising and enchanting, an all-time great without any doubt. Never forgotten by those who love classis old-school scents.

I disagree. If you overapply this ( even in the current version), you are going to have a rough day. Its pretty damn good in its current state.

How can one forget smelling like an ashtray? This juice is a Caron disaster. Ugh

I never understand why this is such a polarizing fragrance.

I don't understand the praise: "This is an enchanting classic masterpiece!"

And I don't get the hate: "This smells like sweaty armpits and bull testicles!"

It smells kind of dry and piney to me. That's all. Nothing too extreme.

One of the greats. A paragon of blending. Unlike its reputation, it's actually the epitome of civility.

A dry woods classic. If I were to have to narrow my fragrance selection to a dozen (God forbid), this would be among them. A great, great, fragrance. Iconic.

Great stuff and if you can still pick up a 120ml bottle on the gray market, it's one of the really crazy bargains in all of perfumery, imo. It took me a long time to get used to the strangeness of the artemesia/pine accord and I went to several other frags looking for something with the same vibe but without the celery seed note. I have finally come to the conclusion that this is the cool uncle of all of them. So if you've got a bottle, don't get rid of it. Time is on your side. Yes, it is.

If wearing a scent that is an exercise in barnyard-ass-stink is up your alley, then this is a total classic.

I don't think that was the Yatagan, danho. I just ripped one. Sorry.

Love the greenness and the purity of the opening, but then my nose just focuses on the celery note which makes it strangely foody, as well as the geranium and lavender which make it smell quite soft (or, dare I say, feminine) to my nose, so I think I'm definitely missing something.
