Thread: LIDGE: don't believe the hype!
this juice doesn't need it, one of the best out right now!

From the thread title, I was all set to come and berate the OP Good thing he's just messing with us.
I think it's a great fragrance, sure enough, but there's something about it that keeps me from thinking it's a masterpiece.
I think it's the sweet chocolatey-musk drydown that does it, but hey, there's not much else out out there that does the same thing (let alone nearly as well) and its longevity and effect on the fairer sex can't be faulted, so maybe it does deserve its reputation.
Easily an 8.5/10 fragrance for me, and I'm a hard marker.
definitely above average, borderline 1 of the greats, I'm sure it's not the best in that house
I am so happy I have this one. Brilliant. In my mind one of the best there is. Certainly at this price point. Can get cloying on me though...which is not always a bad thing if you learn how to wear the scent and when. Do not over spray! This one grows without a doubt on me. I LOVE stronger scents but more than two sprays chokes me out. One spray and I love it and so do people around me. Complemets galore with one spray usually under my shirt and one on my wrist dabbed to the other. Best $70 bottle I ever bought.
1. Amouage Epic man
2. Dior Leather Oud
3. Perris Monte Carlo Oud Imperial Black
4. Le Labo Patchouli 24
5. Amouage Opus VII
6. Byredo Bullion
7. Masque Milano Russian Tea
Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
Seemed to thick and cloying on me.
Is the juice worth the squeeze?
They did a good job creating a scent that appeals to people with a specific olfactory sensibility.

Fantastic Juice, suits me perfectly.
Good juice for sure, but "one of the best"?

Never tried it. I'm quite sure it's "really good" but I doubt it's the best.
Mature, lovely scent. Great juice for sure.
I have yet to smell Pardon to compare these two, I've heard Nasomatto's is an improved version of LIDGE.

Best not to believe the hype on this one or you may end up just a little disappointed.
Haven't tried it, though I'd be willing to. I used to have a bias against sweet scents, but that changed a bit when I embraced 1 Million.
And I found out yesterday that I sort of like YSL LaNuit. So I guess we can all evolve in our tastes.
It's nice. But I can't quite understand some of the fascination with this one.

2. Creed - Aventus
3. Tom Ford - Grey Vetiver
4. Xerjoff - Fars
5. Dior - Vetiver
6. Creed - Green Valley

I think it satisfies a particular taste/mood that unfortunately I rarely ever attain. Once in a blue moon at best.
Hi, I'm William | My Swap Thread
Update: Just went and looked at the reviews for LIDGE.
57 positive... 4 neutral.... 2 negative
That's impressive. You don't get much higher ratio of good to bad than that. Maybe there is something to this juice.

A wonderful scent for sure.
I have a swap going for LIDGE right now. It's a blind swap for me, because I've never smelled it.
I figured with all of the hype, it must be something great. Does it compare in any way to A*Men? I'm not big on gourmand scents and I didn't like A*Men.

On of the better and less generic gourmands available, especially in today's fragrance market.
A gourmand that isn't overly sweet. Wonderful stuff

I didn't like it after testing it on my skin numerous times. Then, I fell in love with it after finally giving it a full wearing to work two winter seasons ago.
Just sniffed the one out for the first time a few days ago and i must say this is by far my favorite cocoa-gourmand scent. Nothing compares to me, not even DHI
I love it. Thank goodness it is easily (and cheaply) available in the UK.
Like it a lot.
"As you walk down the fairway of life you must smell the roses, for you only get to play one round."
I like it a lot, but somehow I don't feel compelled to buy a full bottle.
One of my favorites! Only needs one good spray to the chest to last most of the day, and the drydown has such a natural, beautiful cocoa. Not too sweet, but just sweet enough. One of my wife and I's favorite drydowns ever! I'll agree that it's not extremely versatile, however, as I couldn't bring myself to wear this unless it's cold outside. Is it a masterpiece, or worthy of being considered one of the "greats"? That's a pretty subjective term, I suppose, but in my experience and opinion, it definitely deserves that consideration and I believe it is.
I would certainly come in my top best. But surely wouldn't beat the top 5.
I feel somewhat acronymistic towards this scent.
I hate to say this with so much fanatic love behind it, but it is a cloying fragrance. The day I wore this I could not wait to go home and change out of my work attire.
Agree. Made with quality ingredients but cloying and syrupy on me. Just like New Haarlem.
Are you not entertained??? Is this not why you are here??
My current top ten:
1. Spice and Wood
2. Tonka Imperiale
3. Dior Homme
4. Pure Malt
5. Oud Wood
6. Ambre Nuit
7. L'air Du Desert Marocain
8. Noir de Noir
9. Apple Brandy
10.Straight to Heaven
Quite nice fragrance. I enjoy it. I really noticed how much I liked it during my last wearing
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille Creed Silver Mountain Water Creed Millesime Imperial
Gucci Pour Homme II YSL La Nuit de L'homme Versace The Dreamer
Burberry London YSL L'homme L'occitane Eau Des Baux
Best thing about LIDGE is that its PERFECTLY BALANCED.
Just right amound of sweet, woody and floral (to make it different and sophisticated) notes with good projection and above average longevity.
TOP 3 hot weather:
1. Gucci Pour Homme II
2. Lalique Encre Noire
3. Thierry Mugler Pure Energy
TOP 3 cold weather:
1. Dior Homme
2. Eau des Baux
3. L'Instant de Guerlain Pour Homme Extreme
Seen as i've found this particular scent almost impossible to find anywhere to sample it I blind bought a bottle from strawberrynet last night, wasn't a bad deal with their 10% off sale at the moment. Got an email saying it's shipped already so i'm looking forward to trying it out in a week or so and comparing it to my DHI
Fubar - did you get the Extreme version, or regular L'Instant de Guerlain?
I ask as LIDG is always on StrawberryNet to buy, but LIDGE only pops up in very limited quantities once every so often.
Just because 53 liked it and 2 didn't.
SAMPLE FIRST, you might be number 3 on the didn't list.
Your nostrils, which will dilate immesurably in unspeakable contentment, in motionless ecstasy, will ask nothing better for space, for they will be full of fragrance, as if perfumes and incense; for they will be glutted with complete happiness, like angels who dwell in the peace and magnificence of pleasent heaven.
(From Maldoror by Comte de Lautreamont)
I got LIDGE. I went on there last night after hearing they had 10% all fragrances and as it was something I was keen on trying I always look to see if they have it in stock, I think I got the second last or last bottle because after placing my order it was gone again not long after. This from the conformation email
Guerlain: - L'Instant de Guerlain Extreme Eau De Parfum Spray 75ml/2.5oz 1
I would have liked to sample it but haven't been able to find it anywhere and given the price I paid I'm not too concerned. If I don't like it i'm sure i'd be able to get rid of it, but it seems right up my alley so I doubt it will be going anywhere once I get my hands on it
Oh good man - glad you scored a bottle.
It is very good juice, I doubt you'll be disappointed, especially once the mercury starts to drop.
I got a sample of this, for some reason, it doesn't last on me, became a skin scent w in 2 hours. I'm not sure if I got a bad sample or not
Excellent scent. Long lasting, and unique. It's worth every penny at retail.
However, i don't think its worth the price some are willing to pay for it.
