Tzora by Anat Fritz should be right up your alley. It does have a bit of patchouli in it, but it is primarily a Peruvian pepper, bergamot, Vetiver and cedar driven composition, with a mossy undertone in the early heart phase.
Thread: Fragrances With Peppery Notes? |
I'm really enjoying the D.R. Harris Windsor EdT that I'm wearing today. The only problem with it is that it doesn't last very long at all.
I do have Terre d'Hermes parfum, which many people say is similar to D.R. Harris Windsor. Actually, the TdH is my very favorite scent but I find it rather different than the D.R. Harris. For one thing, the D.R. Harris Windsor seems to have a much more prominent peppery note.
What other fragrances with peppery notes do you suggest that I explore?
I hope to find something with a bit more longevity.
I'd prefer to stay away from anything that also has a lot of sage or patchouli.
Thanks!
Nick

Hermes Poivre Samarcande (or Marc Jacobs Bang if you're on a budget), also Penhaligons Opus 1870.
Another vote for Poivre Samarcande
Currently lawyering and DJing in Tokyo. Still obsessed with smelling good

Marc Jacobs' Bang.
by the time you can afford good speakers, you can't hear the difference
I do love peppery fragrances
Bang - Lots of chilli powder
Burberry the beat - Pure salty peppers (this one I dont like cause its salty, but worth a try)
Angel Men Taste of Fragrance Chilli - A LOT of chilli pepper sauce, i mean A LOT
Le Labo Poivre 23 - Resinous pepper
Le Labo Baie Rose 26 - Pimento berry, very natural
There are a hell of a lot of peppery fragrances but I cant remember right now. But the above are all very very good, i own and love all of them.
I am also a fan of Poivre Samarcande. If you like white pepper and have not tried Lalique White by Lalique, give it a sniff.
I liked a sample of Penhaligon Opus 1870, starting off peppery and ending up roses, but longevity was lacking, at least on my skin.
Assiduosity has also recommended "Molton Brown's Black Pepper - the eau (if they still make it) is a little monotone, but as a range of luxurious bath and shower wear for men it takes some beating..."

Tzora (again)
Umbra
Piper Leather
Honour Man
Aqua Di Casta
Ormonde Man
Shams
Greyland
Un Parfum des Sens et Bois
Piper Nigrum
French Lover

Donna Karan's Black Cashmere - technically women's, but IMO very unisex.
I think Wonderwood smells of pepper.
And wood, obvs.

Another vote for Marc Jacobs Bang, a really under-rated fragrance and peppery as hell. On the niche side (and less dominated by pepper, despite the name) is Lorenzo Villoresi's Piper Nigrum. If you can find an older one in the translucent glass bottle, it's a better formulation, but the new one is still very good.
Some others are:
Nemo Cacharel
Ormonde Man by Ormond Jayne
Moschino by Moschino
Dark Aoud Montale
Caravelle Epicee Frapin
Cologne Noir Van cleef&Arpels

I LOVE pepper in fragrances.
My favourites are -
Niche - Amouage Epic Man
Designer - Bang by Marc Jacobs
How has nobody else mentioned Spicebomb?
I love pepper in frags. Bang is definitely the most peppery one that I have tried. Great stuff and very low priced as well.
DG The One Gentlemen has a pepper open
One of my more peppery fragrances is Penhaligon's Juniper Sling. The opening is very peppery. JS is one of my favorite late dry down fragrances. People have complained about it's poor longevity, but I have not found that to be the case at all.
Cacharel Pour L'Homme ~ A forgotten and very underrated classic. Probably the most masculine fragrance ever created.
Warm beautiful black pepper......
Bodyshop ~ Pink Pepper, (unisex fragrance). Discontinued, but you can find it quite easily on the net. Well worth tracking down.
RARE PERFUME DECANTS - FACEBOOK (closed group) - Hundreds of ultra rare extraits available, including Djedi and Nombre Noir.
Surprised no one has mentioned Armani Prive Bois D'encens. Heavy dose of pepper there.
L'Artisan Poivre Piquant
Marc Jacob's 'Bang' is a pepper-fest with a pleasant, powdery element to it. It was my most worn fragrance of 2012. Pepper, pepper and more pepper.
Amouage Honour Man - High quality pepper!
Wow! Thanks for all the excellent suggestions. Clearly, I've got to sample the Marc Jacobs and the Hermes as well as many of the others mentioned here.
Normally, I'd take a stroll to the fine stores along Chicago's Michigan Avenue to try some of these. However, the temperature here is currently in the single digits so I think I may just order some decants online.

Wouldn't you like to be a Pepper too?
i tried the molton brown black pepper bodywash 2 years ago...very powerfull and long lasting...was a little to overpowering for me.
kerosene wood haven has a nice pink pepercorn opening that i enjoyed but short lived
14 sprays of DRAKKAR NOIR should do it
Bulgari pour homme. While I do get the "well-blended" feel most people comment on, I also get -- throughout the whole wearing -- big hits of black pepper. Worth a try -- and no sage or patchouli!
