Default Change of mind on Cacharel

    Hello Basenoters,

After recommending Cacharel pour L'Homme on another thread today I decided to wear it myself. It was not something I wore often as in the hotter weather it just seemed to become a thick, soapy scent that I just didn't reach for after a while. In fact, this has sat at the back of my wardrobe for what seems ages and I forgot about it.

Today in the cooler weather here I was very surprised. My wife asked what I was wearing as she really liked it. She said it's really lovely and you can tell it's not something everyone wears. The fragrance seemed so clear and refreshing and the notes certainly projected brilliantly then they had in the heat. The seperation of the notes was quite apparent.

To me it smells like a soapy nutmeg. Slight citrus and a smooth sandalwood though nutmeg is the main player here. I'm very pleased I revisited this fragrance again and found what a classic it is!

I'm not sure if this is discontinued? It does seem hard to find in certain countries- the UK comes to mind.

If you can find this and you're a fan of nutmeg I say give this a go. I'll be sporting this a lot this winter either in a suit or casual attire.

    Best wishes,

    K.

Do you have a vintage bottle of this? I'm really tempted to splash out on one ($70+ on Ebay) as I have many happy memories attached to it.

Yes, it's a vintage which seems great as I believe the newer has changed?

I believe so, though I'm not sure by how much. I have a decant of what I think is the current one and it smells close to what I remember of the original, but not as strong or long-lasting.

I have a 100 ml splash bottle (vintage I guess), looks like this

and a 100ml spray from the mid 90th, looks like this

    they smell identical to me
dont know about the current formulation.

Nice scent, not a powerhouse but very pleasant nutmeg with ilang-ilang

Love it, one of my signature scents in the late 80's....
have the 100 ml EDT reformulated version and it's nice smelling but longevity is poor - 5-6 hours where as the old formulation lasted 8-10 hours solid on my skin.....

Love this juice - also brings back happy memories of high school and girls

I recently tried this and thought it was rather beautiful (though it was definately the newer version).
Unfortunately it died on me very quickly just as I was beginning to think I'd made a massive discovery.

Great scent, some moderately subtle powerhouse notes in it, a genuinely timeless keeper.

Loved it and wore it for years. Current hard-to-obtain version is seems much weaker and lasts about half an hour.

I never tried it but would like to
Is the juice worth the squeeze?

This is a great scent that deserves a lot more love. One of my favorites for sure...

This one got a bad rap in the influential 'Guide' so that can't have helped. Although it is not exactly a fashionable scent when compared to today's sweet n'fruitys.

Wore it this week - I love this stuff. I must agree with the OP, this smells a bit icky in hot sticky weather - it's much more of a fall/winter scent.
