    LOL I love this.

Mine was Kiehl's Pour Homme Essence (oil) to which I added vanillin powder. It turned into an amazing oriental. I ran out sometime ago.

I have never done that but I do experiment by way of layering fragrances together and sometimes am overjoyed by the results.

Yes powder. It's for baking etc same as "artificial vanilla" flavor you can get in liquid form for baking. Haven't tried cinnamon stick but a good idea!

Considering the use of sniffer dogs by police in Australia, and airports around the world, the last thing I'd do is macerate some bud in my perfume.

I've never tried "modifying", but will probably experiment using my samples of Exceptional Because You Are and some random things.

Yes. I added some vintage Floris Sandalwood 'bath essence' to some Jicky EdT (which wasn't strong enough for me) and was quite happy with the result. Still have about 40ml of this concoction.

Not yet, but I plan very soon to add roasted coffee beans and (separately) chewing tobacco to some of my cheapie frags to see what happens.

I have. It didn't work out so well. THere is a similar thread in the DIY section. It is possible to add essential oils, spices, etc. to your existing frags, but I'm leary about ruining them.

I never have but I did hear once about someone who put a fresh Gauloise into his new bottle of Caron's Pour un Homme each time he got one to give it a tobacco note. Interesting idea, making a tincture of something with fragrance......

No. I couldn't think of adulterating and misbranding creative integrity. If you have to do this, perhaps it isn't right for you and need to search for something else of make a fragrance from scratch.

No, not knowledgable enough. Plus, I don't think it's that simple.

I haven't done this, but as for layering I wouldn't do it to something I loved. I would only do it on something that didn't work on me and I was trying to make it wearable. And I would also probably decant some of it, so if it didn't work I could try something else with the remainder.

If you try to modify a frag by spiking it with fragrance making materials like an essential oil, of such, be prepared to toss it, because it might not turn out as hoped. Or to put it differently, be prepared to do it a few times to get it right. My first fragrance I made used Jacomo de Jacomo as the base at about 35%, and I pumped a whole lot of Frank and Myrrh, Tea goop I made by repeatedly making tea and then boiling off the water, Cedar, ambergris, amber, Clary Sage, oud, and I can't remember what else.

But it took several trials, and I made a lot of juice... But I still enjoy and wear that creation...

The whole idea seems like asking for a bottle of catsup to dump on the spécialité de la maison at an esquisite French restaurant
