Default Do you know anything about KOBAKO by BOURJOIS?

As a fan of Ernest Beaux (who isn't?) I was astonished to find nothing about one of his perfumes on basenotes: Kobako by Bourjois.

The perfume intelligence says: "A feminine leather edt, classified G1f." That sounds intriguing.

Has anybody tried it? Has anybody tried the current version? Is it any good?

I have a bottle of the current Kobako, and I doubt very much that it's like the original. I am no expert on analysing perfumes for their notes, but I could not smell leather. I wouldn't say chypre, either. I'm smelling a fresh, rich floral with lots of citrus in the top. Sweet, but not gourmand - more like the sweet florals of the 80s. The packaging, with its oriental flowers, implies a floriental, but the emphasis is definitely on the flowers. Hope that helps!

My mum had this! I'm having to rely on old memories here- it was very much a leather and citrus perfume to my nose, so it definitely sounds like it's been reformulated

Yes, I cannot imagine this new version being by the creator of No. 5 and Soir de Paris. I asked a friend for her opinion, and she said it reminded her of a strong toilet freshener

I had to agree, even though I had been kinda liking it.

In any case, it's certainly not a classic leather. Now I want to smell the original!

Bought this recently. I get very little leather ~ it's all about jasmine. It reminds me a lot of Ivoire from Balmain.
