I have a bottle of the current Kobako, and I doubt very much that it's like the original. I am no expert on analysing perfumes for their notes, but I could not smell leather. I wouldn't say chypre, either. I'm smelling a fresh, rich floral with lots of citrus in the top. Sweet, but not gourmand - more like the sweet florals of the 80s. The packaging, with its oriental flowers, implies a floriental, but the emphasis is definitely on the flowers. Hope that helps!
