No, if you want to smell like crap and interesting then you go for the very cheap designer fragrance... if you want to smell awesome then you go for the fine niche fragrance...

The original question is asking if designer scents are all trying to achieve a reaction of "nice" and niche scents are trying for "interesting". The answer is NO.
Of course this is not true because it is just too much of a simplification of the world of fragrance as well as a simplification of the semantics of these words. The categories of fragrances called "niche" and "designer" are kind of arbitrary and poorly delineated as descriptors and these categories have no dependent connection to the the words or the meanings implied by the words, nice or interesting. Any and all scents whether they are niche or designer could be considered: (1) nice and interesting, or (2) either "nice" or "interesting", or (3) neither "nice" nor "interesting".
