Default Should I blind buy White Patchouli of Tom Ford

Hi guy . Please give me the advice that should i blind buy tom ford white patchouli . Because I like Black orchid and Violet Blonde so much . But i don't like patchouli , i just like gourmand or floral . I see the note of White on fragrantica , it has a lot of patchouli , is it true ?

I was prepared to like it, reading the notes - but I rather disliked it when I smelled it in person.

WP wouldn't have been a good blind buy for me.

It's foolish to blind buy expensive fragrances.

I went to try Neroli Portofino today for the first time.

Although i love it, and its made very well and of great quality, the price!

I was aware of that beforehand, but as beautiful as it is, imo i struggle to justify that pricetag for something so generic and soaplike smelling.

    £135 for 50mls?

I dont think its unique enough.

My advice is, dont buy expensive scents blind, i would of gone mad if i had done, although im still thinking about it, but the fact that there is doubt there in my mind speaks volumes imo.

So glad i gave myself the opportunity to try it first.

Cost too much to blindbuy. Sample it first!

You should be able to smell White Patchouli at a department store or Sephora if you're close to one. I would never recommend blind buying.

I don't think you should blind buy White Patchouli as it isn't like Black Orchid or Violet Blonde. It happens to be my favorite of the three. I bought my bottle this weekend after sampling all of them for a couple of weeks. I absoulutely love it. But I cannot recommend it as a blind buy. Not only should you sample it, but give it plenty of time to develop on your skin. It scared me at first but I love it now. Hope that helps.

You say you don't like patchouli. White Patchouli is definitely a patchouli fragrance, so it seems that the obvious answer is no.

No blind buying for any Tom Fords. They don't always behave as you would expect. Complex and often beautiful, but try em!
Don't like patchouli and considering blind buying white patchouli?

    Try jasmin rouge

Bingo. Non-patchouli fan blind-buying a patchouli dominant fragrance = bad idea.

Can't get any more obvious than that. Unless of course you are a glutton for punishment, in which case go for it.

Btw since you seem to enjoy florals, have you tried Ford's Jonquille de Nuit?

    Welcome to Basenotes!

I did the mistake of blind buying some perfume and regretted it. Luckily they were not too expensive. Follow advice on BN, always sample first.

Is this felt to be a strictly feminine scent, or do any guys wear this one?

If these gender categories matter to you, IMO yes it is on the feminine side because of the florals in it. I think it's a very interesting patchouli but I couldn't pull it off.

Thanks for your answer. Although I wouldn't automatically refuse a fragrance that was marketed as feminine I do lean slightly conservative in that regard, and I had a feeling that this was a 'feminine' feminine, if that makes sense...! Thanks again.

I wouldn't buy it blind or not. A patchouli of very little character imo.

I don't think it is as good as orchid. Check sahara noir if you like frankincense.
