Carbone de Balmain perhaps.
I've had RGPH and Azzaro PH for a week or so and am really digging what I smell. I'm ready to make a jump for another frag so I'm hoping for a few good suggestions. I'd like to keep my budget under $50 if possible.
Carbone de Balmain perhaps.
Just purchased Rive Gauche a few weeks ago. Great frag. Give Midnight in Paris a try. As always, try to sample first.

Caron Pour un Homme
RGPH and Azzaro ph are both aromatic fougeres. Other good aromatic fougeres include Drakkar Noir (more butch) and the already mentioned Caron pour un homme (smoother).
The original Jazz by Yves Saint Laurent.
It hasn't suffered too much from reformulations (like some other aromatic fougeres) and it can be bought quite cheaply on the Internet.
I forgot about Jazz, great suggestion.
If you're looking for another masculine scent that is dapper and has that old school, yet modern feel, I suggest checking out Boucheron Jaipur Homme (EDP or EDT). It's a good bit sweeter, but it's very plush and makes you feel like a modern gentleman. Polo Modern Reserve is another good one but with more of a green, forest-like powerhouse feel. Quorum, as mentioned earlier, is another good forest green powerhouse...although it is a bit dated compared to the others I mentioned. If it's the soapiness in Rive Gauche that tickles your fancy, then Prada Amber Pour Homme will make you feel like a million bucks. Although not like Rive Gauche at all, Chanel Allure Homme is a great modern Swiss army knife of a fragrance. It's very warm, inviting, and gentlemanly. If it weren't discontinued and near impossible to find for a reasonable price, I believe Gucci envy would have been a good next step. L'Occitane Eau de Vetyver gives me a similar vibe to Envy and is priced at $50 for a 100ml bottle. Oh, and a fragrance that is similar to Drakar Noir but more modern and with a soapy vibe is Abercrombie & Fitch Woods.

As above Jaipur Homme EDP will be lovely addition.
Saw that mesaboogie mentioned Prada Amber Pour Homme as an anternative. I agree, and would point to Prada's brand new Luna Rossa as an even closer example of the type. Here, the focus is more on lavender and less on amber. It's no powerhouse in the way of an Azzaro or a Rive Gauche. But it is a very high quality aromatic fougere with a subtle but unmistakable barbership vibe. There's even an accompanying after shave splash version that has all the good stuff in the ingredients list, like witch hazel.
Paco Rabanne pour Homme
VINTAGE Paco Rabanne pour homme. Available from time to time on ebay.
Snarky is as snarky does.
Chanel pour Monsieur might be worth testing
Eloge du Traitre by Etat Libre d'Orange is the next step
Take a look at Heritage - Guerlain (a good friend of Rive Gauche's friends) and Tuscany - Aramis (an Azzaro PH good companion).

Apparently you like the very masculine scents. For $50 or less, you could get VanCleef & Arpels pour homme *and* something like Quorum or Bogart pour homme. These are very masculine "powerhouse" frags, and quite different from your RG and Azz. PH.

Good recommendations. Keep it going up.

Prada Amber is a great alternative to RG
Ted Lapidus for Azzaro
Both of these have a similar old school, soft spicy, gentlemanly vibe.
Maybe Paco Rabanne PH, Tuscany, Monsieur Balmain.
Dior Eau Sauvage
i think you should be able to find it for under $50?
How about some Yatagon? Nice classic manly scent, nice price too.

Around the range of Rive Gauche:
Caron pour un Homme is definitely worth it. Close to a barbershop vibe, will stand apart though. Around $30 for 125ml
Habit Rouge is more dandified (more floral and powdery) but is my go-to after Rive Gauche
Chanel Pour Monsieur is again, fantastic, less barbershop though
MDCI's Invasion Barbare used to be mentioned a lot here. I have a decant, and it is phenomenal. And phenomenally pricey, ~$250 for 60ml.
But really, you can't go wrong with any of the above!
PS: There is also Guerlain's Derby!
^ Are you referring to Habit Rouge EDT or EDP?
Davidoff zino is a darker version RG. RG still my prefer scent over zino.
Pasha de Cartier
Its hard to keep the budget under $50 for anything with a big scent like the two you are used to. With Azzaro and RGPH you have very incensed fougere type fragrances. Maybe its time to move on to a pure incense or spice oriental fragrance. You could give a try to Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb, Michael Kors pour Homme, Gucci Pour Homme, or Divine L'Homme Sage. These all have big spice, tobacco and earthy feelings with also a bit of incense.

Carrington. Seriously, give it a try.
How about the classic Carolina Herrera?
It's a great fougere for the winter.
Both Rive Gauche and Azzaro pH are very versatile wearable safe masculine fragrances. Keeping it in these categories.. I recommend checking out Drakkar Noir, Tuscany, Givenchy Gentleman. Possibly Polo, and Havana (make sure you love tobacco).
My Current Top 10:
Rive Gauche Light (2004)
Paul Smith Man (2009)
Burberry London (2006)
Prada Amber pour Homme (2006)
Live Jazz (1998)
Eau des Baux (2006)
Midnight in Paris EDP (2010)
Arpege pour Homme (2005)
Eau Duelle (2010)
It's not a classic aromatic fougere (or is it?) but check out Guerlain Heritage. It hits a similar richness and combination of spices, florals, and patchouli, while creating a similar "classy, old-world" vibe as Rive Gauche Pour Homme and Azzaro Pour Homme.
+1 for Guerlain Heritage.
Also you may want to look into Caron Le 3` Homme.
Sartorial is something you might enjoy.
Surprised to see Caron Pour un Homme listed but not 3rd Man? 3rd Man closer to RGPH & APH than PuH. I'd also recommend Sartorial too.
"I exist for myself, and for those to whom my unquenchable thirst for freedom gives everything, but also for everyone, since insofar as I am able to love - I love everyone. Of noble hearts, I am the noblest - and the most generous of those that yearn to give love in return. - I am a human being, I love death and I love life."
Egon Schiele - Self-Potrait
My classics: Dior Homme EdT, YSL Rive Gauche PH, Helmut Lang Cuiron, L'Occitane Neroli (vintage), Davidoff Zino, L'Occitane Eau des Baux
I'd give Yatagan a shot.
