Default Searching for a manly lavender scent...

The title says it. I've checked out several scents with lavender in it but yet to find any that suits manly-hood.

It would be great if you have some suggestions to come up with and also if it has a pepper and/or wood note in it.

    Please help...if you can.

Hmm...maybe not too manly like in Caron, more like lavender in heart/base note but not being tacky...thats quite a hard combination I think.

You might have to mix up your own.

Gris Clair - fresh lavender against a smokey bonfire.

Oxford & Cambridge - uplifting lavender and mint.

Or, if you can still find it, the discontinued de Nicolai Pour Homme - a lavender feast.

I wholeheartedly agree. I love this one, and think it is definitely one of the manliest lavender-prominent scents (it can't be considered a soliflore, I guess).

Gris Clair by Serge Lutens - Upon application, one is treated to a wave of fresh, clean lavender, with its somewhat camphoraceous and minty facets. This lovely herbal essence floats cloud-like to the waiting heart. Here, in the middle, standoffish iris commingles with the refreshing lavender, imparting its icy coolness. Whiffs of a campfire smokiness intrude to temper the cool melange with its dryness. This inviting mixture meanders to the awaiting base. The coldish brew intermingles with dry, woody notes as well as a restrained amber, with its hints of a musky and vanillic sweetness. An unworldly and ethereal incense showers the blend with its enticing and cryptic character. An alluring drydown ensues. This exhilarating composition is an all-season refuge, and has good projection and longevity.

If you get the spray version (below) it wears nearly like an Eau de Toilette.

Dear me, Swanky, what a nice-looking bottle. By 'scent', though, I just meant that it's not very complicated to my nose. I use it a lot - it's a _true_ eau, which means that it's good for all sorts of things beyond smelling pleasant. One can wash one's hands or hair in it, or whatever else. I've used so much Agua Lavanda that I suppose I no longer consider it a fragrance, but a hygiene product - something a little medicinal. Very wearable, in any case.

    IMO, lavender is lavender.

Mauboussin Homme flies under the radar- A Woody oriental with a lavender note- or a bit fougere-ish depending on the reviewer. Whatever the interpretation, it may serve the needs of the OP.

I already checked out L'Occitane but for me it is more like an air refreshener.
And by manly I mean - ppl are gonna be shocked here I think - for example Aventus is not manly.
There is no manly lavender as such but the composition of the fragrance should deliver maleness, suitably not too strong either.

It's all relative for many of us here, as a fragrance is as manly as the man who wears it. It's really perception.

I wonder what Aventus fans will say about this.

I cannot for the life of me remember smelling a lavender that smelled 'feminine'. Most women I know don't wear any lavender prominent fragrances (or fougeres, which feature lavender) because they smell 'manly' to them.

Try every lavender listed in this thread and you'll easily bump into one that smells 'manly' to you. Seems like a pretty easy task.

I'm a new convert, and agree with the above; see ↓↓↓:

A Taste of Heaven by By Kilian - Upon application, one is treated to an invigorating and herbal, lavender accord. The fresh and clean lavender commingles with the pungent, medicinal bitterness of wormwood. An aldehyde-like effervescence can be sensed as the accord percolates and drifts to the heart. Here, in the middle, florals infuse and transform the lavender. Orange blossom, with its fruity sweetness, a sweet rose, as well as bourbon geranium, with its flowery and sweetly green facets, usurp the lavender. The lavender takes on a more floral slant. A hint of saltiness flutters about. Segueing to the mellow base, the woody resins of amber interplay with the vanillic, nutty and somehwat spicy aspects of tonka bean. A more camphoraceous and slightly smoky lavender develops. A touch of powderiness presents. Plumes of foresty oakmoss as well as earthy patchouli appear here and there. A shower of bourbon vanilla imparts its woody and aromatic facets. The fascinating blending of the foregoing leads to a resplendent drydown. This all-season, well-blended, and masculine composition can prove to be very versatile. Wonderfully, this somewhat classy scent has very good projection, a 2-foot scent cloud, and longevity, about 10 hours.
