    Hi Expert Perfumers

    What is the different between these 2 Bergamot oils?

    Bergamot - Organic

    and which one shall be better and give a good result in a perfume?

    As I understand it, bergapten causes photo-toxicity, so the bergapten free oil would be better if applying to skin (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bergapten)
    I'm not a perfumer though, so take advice from someone who knows.

    Exactly so. Bergamot oil expressed from the skin of the fruit contains chemicals (called Bergaptenes and Furocoumarins) which are skin sensitisers. They cause photo-sensitivity, so that you put some Bergamot on your skin, go out into the sunshine , sand the next time you wear Bergamot your skin flares up. Many suppliers of Bergamot have been trying to remove of reduce the Bergamptenes to a level where this sensitivity doesn't occur. They also try to keep the quality of the smell the same; some succeed better than others.

    Those Bergaptenes etc. are also found in other citrus oils, Lemon, Lime and Grapefruit especially. IFRA wants the accepted level to be reduced even further, but as far as I am aware, they have not yet decided what that level should be.
