Default L'artisan parfumeur, what would you guys recommend?

Hey guys, today I saw many l'artisan fragrances in a discount shop and I was wondering what would you guys recommend since I'm planning to blind buy one. I dont really know that house, I have only sniffed Havana Vanille (now called Vanille Absolument) and Timbuktu.

Dzing - Circus in a bottle; animals, candied apple, caremel, etc.

Tea for Two - One of the best tea based perfume, feel like splashing myself with the best Chai Tea.

    Timbuktu - Icensy & mysterious

Wow! There was a thread on here a couple weeks ago about that. I checked my local Winners, but there was nothing good. Perhaps I'll check again tomorrow. Thanks!

Actually if you go directly to the l'Artisan counter at Ogilvy, you will find not only what you see at Winners but all the fragrances and sizes that have been discontinued. I bought a 50ml bottle of Patchouli Patch for half price. Very nice.

    Half price, lucky ...

I'd say the safest is timbuktu, incensy woody. Dzing is fun but is very dirty, so it depends on taste.

Timbuktu seems to be one of their most popular, and you have to love a good incense fragrance.

Timbuktu, Dzing, Dzongkha, Navegar, Fou d' Absinthe, Al Oudh, Havanna Vanille edit: also L' Eau du Navigateur - all are very good.

I'm looking forward to get Timbuktu, but it is indeed their number one best seller and quite hard to come by on sale. So it can wait..

So many to get from this line. Not mentioned so far but wonderful, imo, Pathouli Patch and Voleur de Roses

I think Mechant Loup is one of my favourites from L'Artisan. Nice spices but also light and fresh. "Bertrand Duchaufour’s abstract portrait of the hazelnut tree." Timbuktu is also quite nice.

    I like:

Mure et Musc Extreme (though I might be the only one who likes this one)

There have been lots of great suggestions so far though. Good house.

I am not a big fan of the house, but the much maligned Coeur de Vetiver Sacré is by far my favorite, and is a superb smelling spiced bergamot tea (spiced Earl Grey if you will) over a transparent Vetiver heart. Great stuff, IMO.
    Current Top Favorites:
    1) Portrait of a Lady (EdP Frédéric Malle)
    2) Giorgio for Men vintage (Giorgio Beverly Hills)
    3) Dia Man vintage edt (Amouage)
    4) Les Nombres d'Or Vetyver (Mona di Orio) - tie
    4) Lalfeorosa (O'driù) - tie

    6) Anat Fritz Original Formula and Classical (Anat Fritz)
    7) Captain vintage (Molyneux)
    8) Tzora (Anat Fritz)

Not my favorite house, as I find that the artistic concept of the house (which I really like) disappointingly tends to translate into fairly ordinary and underwhelming scents (I have yet to purchase my first L'Artisan FB). That having been said, I do like especially Tea for Two, Patchouli Patch and Al Oudh. However, with so much good stuff out there, I have felt little compulsion to actually go ahead and get a bottle of either at full price. Now, a good campaign offer (like the one you've found) might be the kind of thing that would make the difference for me...

If you can get ahold of Tea For Two and L'Eau du Navigateur, grab them immediately as they are discontinued and in my opinion, the best of the line. But they have many excellent ones: Dzongkha, Dzing!, Safran Troublant, Fou d'Absinthe, Méchant Loup, Coeur de Vétiver Sacré, Voleur de Roses, Al Oudh, Vanille Absolument, Traversée du Bosphore... The new one also smells nice, but it's coming out in April...

Not really into this house but I do have some that I like - Tea for Two - wonderful smoky black tea (recently acquired Gucci Pour Homme II and find it a shadow of Tea for Two), Passage D'enfer - a very serene light incense, Poivre Piquant - a very warm spicy scent and L'eau de Navigateur - coffee woody intoxicating (very similar to Eau Des Isles by MPG - I actually prefer MPG offerings). Navegar is a rather pleasantly spicy but on the lighter side. The creation that I find the most fascinating is Bois Farine for its tribute to smelling like flour ....

L’Artisan has managed to put out some quirky, comforting and highly unique stuff, all under the one banner.

For comforting, I reach for Ellena’s Bois Farine. Not unlike Jeux de Peau in some ways – yeasty, nutty yet not overly sweet – it’s a personal scent, to apply even when slipping under the sheets. Duchaufour’s Safran Troublant and Poivre Piquant might also fit nicely here.

For elegant, my pick would be the inimitable Voleur de Roses celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and still ahead of its time. Haunting, a tad mysterious with its lush, metallic rose lurking in the shadows, smeared ever so slightly of blood. Secrétions Magnifiques, all these years later, may have perhaps drawn some inspiration from it.

For quirky and unique, definitely try Piment Brulant, a sprightly pesto of verdant coriander, tomato leaf and freshly cut jalapeño with a smooth skin-scent deep cocoa finish reminiscent of. Body Kouros in its late stages. It will cut through the heat in summer, temper any bitterly cold day, and put a smile on your face every time. Don’t dismiss this one, it takes some getting used to. When you get it, you’ll know. Very L’Artisan. As are Batucada and L’Eau de l’Artisan, both straightforward yet highly invigorating.

And finally, in the intoxicatingly rich, deep and satisfying category (for an olfactory experience eliciting maybe even a tiny moan), there’s Al Oudh, Traversée du Bosphore, Cœur de Vétiver Sacré, Fou d’Absinthe and Méchant Loup featuring liquor or candied fruits and nuts; the slightly smokier Passage d’Enfer; and, but of course!, Dzongha or Timbuktu for when incense is your weapon of choice.

    Enjoy!

I absolutely agree! In fact, I own and love both of these. I have been spraying (1 spritz is all that's needed) Bois Farine on my pillow for years.

Unfortunately I have a huge problem with l'artisan frags... they have complexity, are quite interesting as ideas, but many are quite thin, watery and transparent. I feel like an "interrupted coitus" frustration.... As ideas, Mure et Musk extreme, Tea for Two, Timbuktu, Bois Farine quite interesting, to decants, but Dzongkha is the only one that moved me to get an entire flask.
