New to basenotes but have some experience with fragrances. My question is if I have Dior Homme and Intense should I get Dior Homme sport as I have read it is a great summer frag. Are the notes different enough to make it a worthwhile purchase? Thanks.
I own the vintage DHS and it's quite different than DH or DHI. The new DHS 2012 is more in line with DH and DHI with the iris note. The vintage has a strong lemon and ginger note.
It would just be a lighter version of the original.
Most sports/summer are just that, liter take on the original.
If you like the iris vibe of DH and DHI, then get the new DHS. I personally like the old version which still is can be found if you look around.
Why not? Go for it!
I believe July 2011 is reformulated juice.
Btw you can still get vintage DHS on fragrancenet.
The reformumalted DHS is a mess, smell like one thing from Hugo Boss with their signature sweet accord
I would say no, even though I personally own old and new DHS.
I love DH and DHI, but DHS original is too much ginger but at least it is unique. The new DHS I find to just be a watered down DH and not very good.
But I've only given the new one a few wearings and might change my mind in the future. I have fond memories of original DHS from wearing it many years ago, so I had to buy it when I saw the original DHS at Dillards a few months ago.
DHS (2012 version) has a little iris in it, so if you like DH / DHI, and want a nice summer fragrance, DHS is a great pickup.
DHS (2008 version) is also incredible, but smells less like DH / DHI. Both versions of DHS are great and worth owning IMO, regardless of whether you have DH or DHI -- they smell very different.
Go for it. They smell completely different
Thanks for all the input. One last thing. I have/will have new formulas of both DH and DHI, but can get a really good deal on vintage DH 3/4 full for $35 shipped. Is it worth it even though I have a full bottle of new DH?

BTW 3/4 of 1.7 oz
i was really looking forward to owning DHI before until i got myself a bottle of dior homme (blind buy). it gives me terrible headache everytime i use it. i guess its the strong lipstick like smell. i experienced it before when switching from TdH to YSL la nuit. I really love La Nuit now but DH isnt for me. I love the smell of the dry down of DH but stop reaching for it since i dont enjoy the headache.
In my opinion, yes, since Sport is a casual, light, youthful, yet not vapid or generic reinterpretation of the notes in the two other Dior Homme versions.
If you feel that you need something lighter, then yes. Otherwise, enjoy what you have with lighter application.
Is the juice worth the squeeze?
Frankly, I find Dior Homme and DHI too similar. I would even argue that DHI is the weaker fragrance of the two because it's a bit too sweet, while Dior Homme delicately balances the cocoa and iris. DHI is the ham-fisted younger brother who trips over things a lot.
Dior Homme sport is a great, warm ginger scent. I was a bit deterred because of the "sport" label, but it's quite beautiful in my opinion. There are things out there worth expanding into and trying, but I really think you can't go wrong with Dior Homme sport if you love the other two.
Dior Homme Sport is my quintessential work fragrance. It's light, freshy and creamy all at the same time. It is nonoffensive and smells fantastic. I own DHI, and I think that while some notes overlap, DHS is unique in its own right. That said, buy it. If you can get your hands on the original, then do it. Fragrancenet does still sell the original formulation; however, it is only the 50ml version. I'm thinking of buying a back up bottle of fragrancenet sells a 100ml of the original.
DHS falls into that lemony/woody fresh genre that hit 3 summers ago IMHO. Allure Homme Edition Blanc, Allure Homme Cologne Sport, Burberry Sport, Versace Man Eau Fraiche, Hermes Un Jardin _____ series.
i would love to smell the DHS reformulation if it is indeed that much different than the original.
I like both DHS 2008/2012 editions. Both worth a buy in my opinion. They would be appreciated more if they didn't have the 'Sport' tag attached.
If you are looking for a lighter scent with a ginger feel to it look no further. When I had sampled I was actually quite a fan but I am not looking to add a bottle of this to my collection but it would definitely be worth a sample IMO.
My current top ten:
1. Spice and Wood
2. Tonka Imperiale
3. Dior Homme
4. Pure Malt
5. Oud Wood
6. Ambre Nuit
7. L'air Du Desert Marocain
8. Noir de Noir
9. Apple Brandy
10.Straight to Heaven
