    Hello everyone!

So pleased to be joining the gloriously-fragranced PLady in Chanel (although I'm pretty sure "Chanel rut" is an oxymoron. ) I'll be playing piano for the wee ballerinas this morning, and I'm hoping they like my No22, pre-exclusifs parfum and edt.

    Y'all have a wonderful day!

hednic, you must tell me more about Wild Essence, esp since the frag directory and reviews are down for now. I'm a huge fan of the vintage Weils, and have one Weil masculine, Kipling in my wardrobe. The latest Aroli feminines are OK if not up to the likes of Antilope Zibeline, and Weil de Weil. So, do tell.

Me, I decided to arm myself against the annoyances of teens an alternative HS setting with a few generous dabs of vintage Lancôme Magie Noire. It wasn't enough to stop the waft of $3.59 fruity hand lotion accosting me from clear across the room. Cell phones are annoying enough, but cheap fragrance? Spare me.

    Hi all!

SOTD was L'Instant for work. A colleague was wafting a gorgeous custardy-vanilla scent today; it turned out to be Aquolina Pink Sugar, which a friend had brought back from the States for her. l have never seen it here in the UK. She gave me a little spritz, & l found the burnt sugar notes came out much more on me. A nice comforting scent though, quite similar to Vanillary without the jasmine.

Cold wind here today, & set to turn colder, apparently. Brrrrrrr!

Maybe I should have kept my trap shut yesterday about dry weather , it's snowing like crazy here at the moment.

My sample arrived today (thank you ), and SotE is Ormonde Jayne Tsarina. Notes include - Mandarin, Bergamot, Coriander, Cassis, Hedione, Freesia, Jasmine, Sambac, Iris, Suede, Sandalwood, Cedar, Vanilla Bean, Labdanum, Musk.

Mimi and I tried this briefly on our London sniffathon and I remain hugely impressed. Rich floral vanilla that never strays too far into gourmand territory, and appears to boast impressive sillage and tenacious longevity. I don't share the view that it is overtly feminine either, and will gladly use the 10ml or so I now have. Full bottle ? - can't justify £250+ but the SA we were speaking with seemed under the distinct impression that a cheaper 50ml version is likely to follow in the not too distant future. Consider me interested. Now, do I save the rest for wearing, or warm it up and drink it. Delicious

SotD is the gorgeously warming L'Occitane Eau d'Ambre. Resinously, deep, thick, slightly boozy vanilla yet true Amber. Just fabulous work at a wonderful price point.

Now to hunt for Eau d'Iparie?

I'm also hunting Lush Gorilla Snowcake if anyone knows where I might find some without the silly eBay price tag

The other day as I was sniffing the nozzles of most of my wardrobe, I came to Hové Rue Royale and thought I picked up a hint of patchouli for the first time. I'm wearing RR today, I can't say I smell patch, nor could I argue against there being a drop of it in there. Either way, my skin or something is making RR smell sour on me today, so I just sprayed a little Jicky over top, and I smell better.

The niche version of pink sugar is Profumum Roma Acqua e Zucchero. Much more expensive, but IMHO much lovelier. My 20 year old cousin wears pink sugar. I'm holding out for the real deal!

SOTE is Amouage Epic Woman. Very nice, but won't make my duty free short list (pipped by Lyric and Memoir)

kewart, I once walked home through something I called "thunderslush" when I was at the University of Cincinnati. I was soaked clear through, my parka must have tripled its weight, and I was so cold I couldn't even warm up with a hot bath since no part of me was able to tell apart hot and cold water. 36 years later, it is still fresh in my mind! Stay warm, my dear!

Hello all, back to Ubar today......

I tried Memoir yesterday and to my surprise i find huge similarities to Jubilation, though M. is much denser, spiced, sweeter, less incense, but both are balmy .....i tend to believe many perfumes have more musk then i ever thought before:-)

Today Narcisse Noir again. Mr. Larimar, Dr. G, and Quarry smell exceptionally well today (if a bit dirty?)

iivanita - I haven't tried Jubilation Woman, but I do love Memoir which was a BD present from Mr. WF. How do you like it? I find it more wearable than Ubar for some reason.

Hello Whitefluffy, i know, wanted to tell you i was surprised its so feminine, and indeed by the emotion i get from it, its similar to Sacrebleu, very seductive smell, very girlish, playful and opulent, gourmand:-) like you want to chew it like a bubble gum:-)

I believe that a big part of it is the musk, very nicely done! I could not wear it every day because its powerful, dense, for evenings.......i really liked it:-) , i had Jubilation extrait on the other hand, oh yes not EDP, but extrait, which is much nicer then EDP, and they had this same balmy background, like you have 2 perfumes that came from similar base and later went slightly different ways......

I am subjective because Ubar was really 1st perfume that i loved from the first sniff and then almost year later the same way:-) , i think of it as jasmine sandalwood combo in Samsara kind of way just not so loud, more refined......i love the longevity..... Jubilation edp is not so strong, can compare to all those only in extrait :-) and thats very expencive

Armani Mania, the original one, I believe, with the black cap. A very kind BNer send me a partial bottle a while ago. I have a hard time deciding what fragrance to wear when I tutor. I work closely one on one with my students, so I don't want to wear anything too old and fusty that will have them heading sneezing for the door, but I don't want anything too trendy and attention-grabbing either. I want a fragrance that is non-disruptive and inoffensive, but not so bland that bores me to wear it. My fragrance has to enhance my mood, so it is very personal. Armani Mania seems like it will work well, spritzed a couple of times on my torso so it will be muted under clothing. One on the wrist for me to sniff.
