OK then I rang Royal Mail and made a trip to the Post Office this morning to find out the situation about sending within the UK.
The manager of the Post Office said you can send bottles of perfume within the UK but the legislation is going to change on July and rules will mirror the international legislation and sending of 'dangerous goods' ie perfume will be prohibited. She believed the ID8000 sticker is only used when items are being returned to the sender and are not necissary.
From a Royal Mail supervisor in the customer services department When sending perfume/aftershave in the uk you must wrap the item in polythene/bubble wrap with an air tight seal so nothing leaks, You'll have to Mark as ‘FRAGILE’ or use Fragile marked tape and affix an ID8000 sticker and put a cross in the box marked perfume on postage box. You must put your name and address on the back to comply with regulations of sending dangerous goods. She had no information in regard to any future changes that may happen in July.
Sending internationally via Air services is 100% prohibited and the contents will be confiscated and destroyed and you may be liable for prosecution.
