Thread: Best patchouli with leather |
With or without tobacco.
With or without vanilla.
I am wondering which scents use leather and patchouli as main notes.

We want a niche forum.
Here are some good ones, IMO:
Leather and patcholi:
Maître Parfumeur et Gantier Parfum d'Habit
Hermès Bel Ami
Aramis Aramis
Santa Maria Novella Nostalgia
Leather, patchouli and vanilla:
Guerlain Shalimar!
Leather, patchouli, vanilla and tobacco:
hmm... maybe Ineke Field Notes from Paris?
Thierry Mugler Pure Leather
Guerlain Derby gets high marks around here. Recently treated myself to a new bottle. Yes, it is fine, fine stuff. Leather and patchouli in the very long and luxurious drydown.
For my tastes, the following impart good and prominent patchouli / leather during development:
Polo
Yatagan
Gentlemen
Moods Uomo
Parfum d'Habit
Maxim's pH
Salvador Dali pH
VCA pH
There are too many to mention here, but these are my favorites leather/patchuli fragrances.:
Montana perfum d'homme
Fendi Uomo
Drakkar Noir
Quorum
Tsar
Oscar de la Renta pour Lui
Sung Homme
Chevignon
Krizia Uomo
Francesco Smalto pour Homme
Basile Uomo
but the one I like the best is Jaguar for Men Original (with brown cap):

Thank you all for the kind replies.
Out of this list, I have already tried:
1740 Marquis de Sade (lots of immortelle)
Maître Parfumeur et Gantier Parfum d'Habit (vetiver and leather)
Aramis Aramis (floral and leather)
Leather, patchouli and vanilla:
Guerlain Shalimar (defies a category!!)
Leather, patchouli, vanilla and tobacco:
Ineke Field Notes from Paris (I get a lot more flowers in this one)
Guerlain Derby (somehow I see this more as a chypre)
Azuree (the sister of Aramis, a classic)
Thank you again for the ideas. Will have to try some others on this list.

Charriol Royal Leather
Givenchy Gentleman (vintage)
I truly second Givenchy Gentleman - I get a more than sufficient amount of both notes from this.
Also, German cheapie (but near-designer quality) Marbert Homme - from the sturdy, reliable fragrance house of Marbert - combines both leather and patchouli with a slight suggestion of (mainly dark, almost Goth) florals, also barbershop-style, talcum-like powderiness and even a hint of almost "Guerlinade" like gourmand notes (mainly a dark vanilla accord), with a bit of orange (also a slightly neroli-based), fougere and herbal notes. If a dark powerhouse, but also slightly green, partly gourmand, leathery patchouli exists, Marbert Homme might qualify.

Polo

Givenchy Gentleman.
try Coromandel, in addition to many of these other suggestions
+1 on most of the above suggestions but I'll add Mazzolari Lui as one of my top 5 in this genre...
Some of my favorite are : Noir Patchouli Histoires de Parfums, Bel Ami Hermes, Givenchy Gentleman, Mazzolari Lui, Aramis Aramis, Vintage Trussardi Uomo.
Pontaccio 21!! Pure class
I'll third Mazzolari Lui. Aramis is excellent as well.
keepin' it musky
Aramis and Yatagan.
Its questionable I know but I would like to mention Patchouli 24 and Amouage Dia man.
Mazzolari Lui is indeed a very nice leather patch combo
Thank you all again for the suggestions.
More items to put on the "to try" list.
