Default Invasion Barbare similar to Le Male !!??

I am very interested to sample Invasion Barbare but some mentioned here that it is similar to Le Male which I really don't like at all. Please advice...

    Thanks

I just sampled it last week. I reminds me in no way of Le Male.

Its a really high quality but simple fougere. It just smells good! But not particulary interesting. I can see why it would be a great signature scent for everyday wear.

There is a definite similarity, but IB is a million times better. I'm surprised nobody else notices this.

not similar. le male is WAY heavier and sweeter. not to mention infinitely cruder. "Invasion Barbare" is a totally inappropriate name for the frag, which is measured and mature.

They may both have lavender, but that doesn't make them similar. They don't feel anything alike overall..

I for one think they are similar: they're both barbershop retros with a huge musky-vanilla foundation. Where Le Male is juvenile and superficial, however, IB is made interesting with a big violet leaf note. Try it!

Yep like everyone else has said they are completely different for my nose with IB being a great fragrance

I don't get this from IB. I find it a very slim, crisp cedar-vanilla affair. One of the driest vanillas ever.

Another urban myth, no doubt started by someone with little or no frame of reference to distinguish one perfume from another - it happens a lot these days

I have to agree with this. I like both Le Male and Invasion Barbare equally though.

I'd have to disagree. The resemblance between Le Male and Invasion Barbare is more noticeable if you have a good nose or knowledge of fragrances (and fougeres, especially). They share a very similar structure, and even some of the same notes, mainly synthetic lavender, a certain plasticky note and a huge dose of clean musk in the base. Although you would never mistake one for the other, they are similar in many ways.

I know both fragrances well: well enough to have noticed subtle and not-so subtle details, such as the rarely-mentioned dose of civet in the base of Invasion Barbare.
