Default Terre d' Hermes by Hermes VS L'eau d'Issey by Issey Miyake

I would like to hear some feedback on the subject of Terre d' Hermes by Hermes VS L'eau d'Issey by Issey Miyake. I have samples of both and like both very much. In the Hermes I notice a stronger orange opening that mellows in an hour or so. In the Issey I note a lemon opening and a bit of a more aqua scent ion the drydown. However I am still very new to all of this.

The only feedback I can give is Terre d'Hermes is a great scent and L'eau d'Issey pour Homme is a very poor one, IMO. They are quite different smelling to my nose, at least.

There seems to be a lot of threads regarding L'eau d'Issey lately. Wonder why?

Honestly, don't take the word of basenoters as dogma. Terre d'Hermes will probably be much more popular for fragrance enthusiasts, because it is more original and the composition is more artistic. Yet, if you are a younger person, in a much more casual setting and you care about utility and performance moreso than a fragrance being a work of art, go for Issey Miyake.

That said, the original L'eau de Issey is not my favorite from the Issey Miyake house. I suggest you try Issey Miyake Sport or Issey Miyake Summer Edition, as those are much better.

Terre Dr Hermes is more complex and interesting IMO. L eau d'issey smells great and when I owned it, I never wore it without receiving a compliment. Be warned however that the newer formulation of L eau d'issey does not project or last as long as before.

Issey is the bomb, a truly enjoyable fragrance that smells fresh. FISS80 is right though, I recently picked up a bottle to recapture my younger days and its nowhere near as strong, used to be 3 sprays last all day and into the next one - now you get around 5 hours.

TDH is also great, its like the Issey of this generation which means in about 10/15 years people will say that they hate it/is generic/played out as they shuffle their fickle assess onto whichever brand the PR department says is hot now.

Follow your nose, if you like it, wear it.

I think I understand where you are going with this, but I respectfully disagree. For one, I am not sure TdH is any more a "work of art" than L'eau d'Issey pour Homme. I would not make a statement to claim one is more original and/or artistic than the other. I also disagree on the assertion that Basenotes members generally have different tastes than anyone else. It is true that many here have heard of and/or tried scents that the general public may never try or hear of, but if something smells good to a given individual it smells good (the reverse equally holding true). The idea of people here having experienced noses and the like is unfortunate. Finally, if someone comes on a fragrance discussion group asking for advice from its members I would hope that they are enjoying fragrances for them self and not worrying about what someone of a specific age or setting might think.

Both are good , have good longevity and sillage , both work great in high temperatures and are versatile .
Now TdH is a bit on the mature side , while Issey is more for a young heart.
Overall I prefer TdH , it smells better to my nose .

TdH gave me a wow factor when I first smelled it. L'eau d' issey is just a good smelling fragrance. TdH is excellent.
