    Default Oakmoss resin fragrance?

I remember many years ago buying a bottle of oakmoss resin oil when it was still affordable (and legal). It had a wonderful smell. Do you know of a fragrance which has a heavy oakmoss bias?

Why has oakmoss been banned by law? I've read it was an original ingredient in Kouros and what made the pre-reformulation juice so good.

This banning of ingredients must end. They should allow some of it to be used without all of it being taken. Perhaps these parfums would be very expensive, but many of us would buy it.

Pinaud Clubman has both Evernia prunastri (Oak Moss) and Evernia furfuracea (Tree Moss) listed in the ingredients. I didn't know it was illegal, but I know it's very regulated. Only 0.1% of usage in a composition. I imagine the cost for it is outrageous. Takes a lot of work scraping and picking the lichen off the trees, not to mention extracting the oils.

There are plenty noted within the following articles (rather current, i.e. within the last 2 months). Chypres & Fougeres, in general. Know that the 'new' (and up till now, not yet adopted) oakmoss restriction is 50 times more restrictive than the current IFRA restriction. Cropwatch does a pretty good job of putting a fine point on the controversial science involved (last link).

Evernia prunastri (Oak Moss) could also be found in YSL Pour Homme.

I have no idea what "Oakmoss resin oil" is -- probably a commercial product that may or may not have oakmoss in it.

Oakmoss absolute is not very expensive at all -- I'm pretty sure it's easy and cheap to cultivate. It is NOT illegal, merely restricted by a trade organization in Europe as it is an allergen, supposedly.

If you miss it that much, buy some absolute and dissolve in your carrier of choice (e.g. jojoba or fractionated coconut oil, vodka).
