Today I was in a group network event with another 50 odd investors. Most property investors are way above from my age group. However there were some 20 somethings and some early 30's.
I knew I had to wear something that is going to cut through the rest 50 other smells, and I picked up my "Weapon Scent" which happens to be haute concentration.
When a scent becomes skin scent, I count it dead i.e. don't consider skin time in longevity.
Back to Black Aoud, I was shocked to see a 6+ hour peak performance and for the duration it felt as if I had just applied the fragrance. If you consider skin scent period longevity is well into 12-14 hour window.
The smell is gorgeous too and lasts fairly long in it's peak time and guess what that rose smells awesome.
Defo a top 10 smell.
Most worn scents according to my haphazard use of the SOTD...so perhaps my favorites...
1. Epic Man by Amouage (21 wears)
2. M7 by Eves Saint Laurent (18 wears)
3. Leather Oud by Christian Dior (18 wears)
4. Oud Imperial (black) by Perris Monte Carlo (14 wears)
5. Russian Tea Ritual by Masque (12 wears)
6. Fate Man by Amouage (11 wears)
7. Terre d'Hermes by Hermes (11 wears plus - often not recorded go to scent)
8. Interlude Man by Amouage (11 wears)
9. Journey Man by Amouage (11 wears)
10. Plum Japonais by Tom Ford, Bullion by Byredo, Piper Nigrum by a Lorenzo Villorosi, Pulp by Byredo, Santal Royal by Guerlain (9 wears)
Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
I have yet to pay much attention to the longevity I get out of it. Although, with the exception of Wild Aoud, I seem to get very good longevity from all of Montale's Aouds that I have tried so far. Black and White are by far my favorites.
Looking at the directory, how can so many people vote it negative is beyond me.
To each his own, I don't like the stuffy screechy overly synthetic oud they use in their fragrances.
Wonderful stuff period.
5 Star fragrance in my book too.
It's in my top ten. A very good masculine rose scent.
"Weapon" is a good word choice. I find the stuff suffocating.
This fragrance is one of the best works of art in the last 10 years, for me and very special too.
I dig it. Don't wear it much/find few situations to wear it in, but I definitely get a kick out of it when I do.
Ok, I pulled out a jacket which I last wore in November 2012 which is over 4 months ago and I can **STILL** faintly smell the traces of Black Aoud. It must've gotten on the collar and this is serious longevity.
Rose and oud is a nice combo imo but Montale's harsh oud is a turnoff to me. Une Rose + Pure Oud is a magical combination, or substitute Noir de Noir for Une Rose for a devastating evening combo.
Nothing beats Montale longetivity. My second favorite is Amouge Epic in the oud nuclear line.
Love Black Aoud. Just picked up a bottle and looking for another non redundant Montale Aoud. Really liking White Aoud as well.
Tom Ford Private Blend Splits Costa Azzurra / Mandarino Di Amalfi / Oud Wood / Tobacco Vanille / Tobacco Oud / Neroli Portofino / Noir de Noir / Tuscan Leather / Plum Japonais/ Oud Fleur / Italian Cypress / Venetian Bergamot / Jasmin Rouge / Café Rose / Amber Absolute HERE
I have sampled probably 100 fragrances and this is without a doubt the worst of the bunch.
Well, i do like Aventus, so you might be right!
