Funny, I'm wearing Yatagan too right now. I have the recent version. Longevity is good on me. After the initial vegetal burst, it quiets down, so sillage is limited, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Sometimes it's seemed to disappear on me (olfactory fatigue?) and at other times it's been very noticeable throughout the day - like today, when I thoroughly enjoyed it, and gained a new appreciation of it (it seemed much dirtier, and in a great way). How do other people find it?

I am a huge fan of Caron, but Yatagan is a fragrance I find, (personally) hard to wear. I have the same problem with Gucci Homme, (heavy rectangular bottle). The woody note in these fragrances I find way too overpowering. I definitely don't have a problem with silliage or longevity, ( I refer to the vintage juice).
In the case of Yatagan and Patou Pour Homme I actually find the after shave far superior, (subtler) and just as long lasting.

There is a Yatagan after shave? I've never seen it, but I'd love some!

On my skin it's fine.
I have the same issue as the OP. Some times it seems to disappear completely and other times it is right in your face. I wish it was always right in my face.
Yatagan is a special scent but I find it hard to wear. You must be in a certain mood to wear it.
Longevity is very good - about 8h, but after the first 2h Yatagan becomes a quiet scent with moderate sillage.
