    Default Best smokey frag?

    That should read 'smoky'!

I'm off to London tomorrow and I'd like some suggestions as to the best niche smokey fragrances for men to try. I've tried Naomi Goodsir's Bois d'Ascese and that was too much for me, but I'm open to suggestions. Thanks!

I find Tuscan Leather to be considerably smokey.

Also, I have heard man refer to Chanel's Sycomore as being a nice smokey vetiver.
I'm liquidating my collection to help fund my site. Please show your support for the FPindex and buy buy buy - Tuscan Leather, Egoiste, Costume National 21, etc!

Thanks! I own Tuscan Leather. I tried Sycamore earlier this month but my nose was so tired by that stage of the day that everything at the Chanel Exclusives counter smelled awful :/

May be worth another try. I wish there was somewhere close by I could sample the exclusives...

The only place I know in London is Selfridges. I suppose Harrod's has them, too, but I don't go there!

Cheers for these suggestions. Arso is my all-time favourite fragrance and I'm awaiting the arrival of my split from Palmbeach. I'll research the others tonight.

I love smokey fragrances. You've got some great suggestions so far - Arso, Fumidus, Black Tourmaline. I'd like to add one whose name I can never spell and my bottle, for some weird reason, doesn't have the name of the fragrance on it. I know its initials are KJ and it's from Parfums Regence and it's a great smokey leather. Somebody help me out here.

I'll tell you what, I thought Profumum Arso was smokey. I just received a sample of Fumidus, and this makes Arso feel like white smoke, compared to a heavy fire black smoke with a touch of Scotch Whiskey neat thrown in for good measure.

Does any fragrance smell like burning smoking leaves, Sycomore had this note but they removed it in 2011 due to IFRA I am guessing.

    Kolnisch Juchten.

Most definitely, naylor. You beat me to it!

This year BLACK is my favorite smokey frag. It's got that nice chimney smoke, or kind of like you sat in front of a bonfire for a few hours.

My issue with Sycomore esp the post 2011 formulation is that , the sandalwood engulfs the vetiver. I love my vetivers smokey , burning and acrid.

Actually you're spot on! It's not just burnt leaves type smell but almost anything in its path that's burning smell!
