Default Looking for a good everyday cologne.

    Hey guys.

I've purchased about 3 colognes in the past (mont blanc pure, curve, and Kenneth Cole black) but I can't seem to find one that's great all around for use whenever and anytime. See, I really don't want a shelf of fragrances, just 1 I use all the time and maybe one that's better for night or clubs.

Really, I'm looking for something that isn't overpowering, is masculine, but not super in your face. Oh, and something that makes the ladies smile and blush is a obvious plus.

I've done some research (probaly too much because now I'm just more confused) and they mention stuff about skin type playing a factor. I have no clue what kind I have. Gut guess says dry skin. But I could have combo skin. All I know is I have dry elbows, my forehead gets kinda greasy, and my hands crack in the winter.

Also, I need something that lasts a acceptable amount of time without reapplication.

I also work around customers alot (I work in retail) so something that isn't overpowering like I said.

My work actually sells cologne, and being able to use my discount I'd a definite plus. These are some of the kinds we sell, let me know if any jump out:

    Issay miyaki pour homme
    Burberry Brit
    Davidoff cool water
    Bvlgari aqua
    Drakkar noir
    Eternity Calvin Klein
    Dolce and glabana light blue
    Dolce and galbana the one

Not sure if any of these fit the bill I'm looking for.

I should also mention that my budget is around 40 or 50 dollars. I don't need any fancy, high roller stuff. Just something that is a good all around everyday anytime scent that is appealing to the ladies as well.

I'm also 23 years old, if age plays any kinda role in these things.

So let me know what you guys think thanks

I would say Allure Homme Sport if your budget was around 70$ but instead I'll recommend Versace Pour Homme.

A 3.4oz bottle can be had for about 35$ online.
    1) Chergui (Serge Lutens)
    2) Dior Homme Intense
    3) Aventus (Creed)
    4) Allure Homme Sport (Chanel)
    5) La Nuit De l'Homme (YSL)

From your list I think Burberry Brit would be a good choice. D&G The One is a great scent but it just doesn't last.

I actually had a question about the Burberry Brit that's at my store. It's not in a box like I see it is in when I search it online (a plade looking design.) instead the box at my store just has a black and white picture of a guy in a scarf. Did they change the box? Is this the same cologne?

I have a new bottle in its box and it looks like you've described:

So not at all sure about a change of design. But my bottle was bought a few years ago (manufactured September 2010).

There does seem to be a 'limited edition' box:

So I think I'm between Burberry Brit and miyaki.

I went to a Macy and sprayed them on opposite wrists to see which would smell better after a bit on my skin.

Me personally I think I like the Brit more, but the girl I did ask her opinion on said she liked the miyaki. I assume I can't go wrong with either?

Still not sure if it smells masculine enough.

Light Blue pour homme or Bulgari Aqua would be my picks off your list. Bulgari Man will cost about $35 online and fits everything you want.

Sheesh, I don't know. Now I'm thinking of trying the aqua gio. Ha ha.

I really don't know how to make my decision: what smells good to me or to the ladies?

So I guess it's between burberry brit, Issay miyaki pour homme, or aqua gio.

Really, I don't want to waste my money on the wrong cologne.

Gucci Pour Homme II for everyday, safe around others.

Try Perry Ellis 360 Red. Close to ADG and should probably satisfy the ladies.

I prefer YSL La Nuit to Brit, however, Brit is pretty nice.

YSL L'homme will be another one the ladies will like, and is a good everyday scent whether summer or winter.

Creed Silver Mountain Water, you can find a 30ml decant for around $50.

But from your list, I would vote for Brit and The One

Not sure you want to wear any one thing every day.
L'eau de Issey (Issey Miyake) pour homme and Cool Water are nice, women like 'em, but they're somewhat seasonal. Ideally warm weather appropriate. The Issey Miyake is close to Aqua di Gio but cheaper.
Two that will work all year round, informal or formal, would be Prada Amber and Esencia Loewe. Sample them if you can. Great frags. The E.L. has *zero* negative reviews here on BN.
The suggestion of YSL LaNuit is pretty good too... sweet, but women love it.

Some of those you name don't have the longevity you want.

I think its a pretty safe scent. Kind of powdery. i don't see why they would hate it, but everyone is different. ADG/PE 360 Red is a pretty safe choice just based on female reactions.

Most likely no matter what you have, as long as it isn't awful, females will probably think you smell nice. But each individual has a few scents that they are crazy over. We can't choose that.

D&G The One is a really nice fragrance for work and going out. It's not a really loud fragrance and doesn't last long, but during those 4 hours or so it's really hard to beat.
    Summer 2014 favorites

    1. Terre d'Hermes Eau Tres Fraiche (orange)
    2. Dueto Citiver (Vetiver)

I was looking for something that I could wear during the day in afternoon. Because I don't tend to go out alot, and if I do then I guess I'll buy a "going out" cologne.

I honestly just didn't want more than two or three scents. Because it might have seemed over kill or too expensive to juggle that many and figure out when to use them.

I would say ADG over Issey Miyake. But definitely look at PE 360 Red instead of ADG, it will save you some money. Even with your discount from work, I believe you can find lower prices overall if you just look around.

Personally, I wouldn't go near Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue for men with a 10 foot pole.

I cannot recommend Cuba Red enough. Don't be deterred by the $5 price tag, it comes damn near close to smelling like a niche fragrance. If you got that, plus, say, L'eau d'Issey Miyake, you're set. Also look out for Polo Black or Double black, both great in my opinion.

Like which ones? I was thinking of having the issey miyaki for a summer scent and maybe burberry brit for a fall/winter scent. Unless there's a better winter scent from the list I put up. Like I said, I don't mind having a few scents (one for different times of the year or times) I just gotta figure out which ones I should get for that, and if I can get them from my work all the better.

Not overpowering, is masculine, but not super in your face. And something that makes the ladies smile and blush.
Lasts a acceptable amount of time without reapplication.

From your list, my pick is L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme; gets compliments and would last nicely through the day, but its kinda warm oriental woody that I love but may not be everyone's cup of tea. A girl working in my office would literally put her nose on my arm and wrist even time she pass me if i was wearing Issey. Drakkar though old school is a deadly night scent if clubbing is your thing, no longevity to speak of though.

Eternity is versatile and goes a long long way and Brits is an nice option for day wear too.

I would try Terre d'Hermes for day and perhaps Armani Code or Gucci Guilty Intense for nights too. Have fun.

Issay miyaki pour homme - I have never liked this one. It's too strong and gives me a headache. The 2009 summer version is a nicer, "softer," greener version. Although I doubt they have that where you work. This one's usually love or hate.

Burberry Brit - A bit powdery but it's a nice fragrance overall. Not overpowering, but not weak. Definitely another soft fragrance. I like it and have considered purchasing it myself...but never pulled the trigger on this one.

Davidoff cool water - Not a huge fan, but most people like it. Just your everyday fresh scent. Everyone knows it, which isn't a bad thing. I think I just got TOO used to smelling it on a friend of mine.

Bvlgari aqua - Avoid. Can't stand this one; it's a strong aquatic but smells like ocean water. Definitely not the best fragrance out there.

Drakkar noir - Not bad, but I feel it's outdated. I still use it from time to time, but I wouldn't really recommend it.

Eternity Calvin Klein - Older fragrance but it's definitely not outdated. It smells great and is very versatile. Honestly, from your list this is one of the best.

Dolce and glabana light blue - Another aquatic. Unlike aqua, this one isn't too strong. It's actually very nice. Somewhat fresh, but overall it smells great.

Dolce and galbana the one - Probably one of my favorite. Unfortunately the rumors about it not lasting on your skin are true. I've worn it in hot humid climates (Brazil) and cold temperatures (Stockholm). It doesn't last either way.

Try out Burberry Men, Boss Bottled, Lacoste Pour Homme.
